SAM system RBS 23 Bamse is taken from stock and is reactivated. I find the system interesting due to combo of decent range (15km high & 20km in range) and the low missile cost that will allow decent combat economics vs UAV’s and smart munitions.

Appears that Slovakia is going for F16 instead of gripen C ?
The Swedish Gripen E will recycle parts from old Gripen A’s but Not Gripen C’s (at least for now).
@Nicholas, many ways to cut numbers,
-article cited is from 1987,
-in 1989 the airforce operated 500-600 aircraft (https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svenska_f%C3%B6rsvarsmaktens_organisation_1989#Flygvapnet_1989)
-total wartime staff ~60′ personnel.
Hope that is a good enough example to solve the question of what the other “1464 are doing”.
Are previously paid upfront cost prolonged with ‘F35 price index’ (not CPI) added to cost?
4* Rbs 15?
According to memory the pylon clearance on Gripen C is center pylon 900kg, inner with 1300 kg and outerwing 600kg (?). The Rbs 15 mk3+ specs are unknown by now. Loading the RBS 15 mk3+ on the outer wing pylons on a Gripen C would require the Mk3+ to be lighter or exceeding load on that pylon.
The rbs 15 will feature an active radar seeker with associated ECCM and power requirements and the 200kg warhead, and with a range is same ballpark or marginally above NSM. The total weight difference between them appears to be quite logic.
My unfounded hopes is that signature reduction is serious like NSM and that they would feature a dual seeker as originally planned.
4 * RBS 15
4 RBS 15 at approx. 600kg each + pylons + 2 IRIS-T equals less than 3 tons excluding drop tank, it should be very realistic for a 100-200nm run out from a hidden / protected airbase out to the Baltic for launch, that is more than needed for many customers. Just remember that not all countries plan for long range offensive missions..
@JakobS, I would love to hear more about this on the other 364 days of the year…;)
Same news but in English:
Not a word about reduced RCS…
Anyway, my guess is that the JSM will probably be fitted to Gripen if Finland (against all odds) purchase the Gripen E.
Yes, reduced signature too, but no mentioning of complementary IR seeker as planned for MK4. Don’t know how much RBS 15 MK3+ compete with JSM/NSM as the later doesn’t have any radar seeker and feature a 40% smaller warhead.

New version of RBS 15 Air-Surface/ship missile ordered for Gripen system incl Gripen E, apparently version “MK3+”, what ever that means..
@Loke,
Main issue for FAF is to figure out how to stay alive on the ground, have at least modest numbers and produce large number of sorties as deterrant or early in conflict.
Quite possible that ps05/mk4 will outrange the Raven ES 1000 in A2A mode.
Glad to see your faith in F35 I ll send a postcard to you and your soon only and completely unprotected airbase..
@hopsalot, as you very well know that Gripen D has less fuel and higher consuption compared to Gripen C, Gripen E is a different ballgame, your Swiss quotes are pure distractions, completely irrelevant to Gripen E.
SwedishF21 Luleå & Norwegin Bodö
Well is that really relevant given the conversation we’ve just had about HMDs?
SwedishF21 Luleå & Norwegian Bodö base has done joint exercises for a very long time well before HMD intro, lots of written sources and gossip around this, above conclusion is valid without HMD too.
Does the Gripen C have all these capabilities or are you including those of the Gripen E, which is yet to reach IOC. Currently that IOC is scheduled for 2021. Other aircrafts’ capabilities may have changed in the interim.
Indeed Only HMD & meteor is gripen C now and hope that other western types get beamed links and GaN ew by 2021 too
@StarfishPrime, spot on and off target at same time,
one of Gripens strengths is the easy of integration of new capabilities, so first Meteor user, HMD, almost first beamed datalinks (E), first GaN, its no coincidence, its a pattern that we can expect to contiue..
