Well thats it its all over ,went back and by 16:15 the last bit was on the last wagon and was being driven out, the Vulcan did put up a bit of fight late on, first the machine being used to smash and grab it punched its way through part of the tail and it burst the hydraulic pipes on the smasher , Scrappers 0 Vulc 1, then the wagon as shown on the pic got stuck and another tractor unit had to pull it out, Scrappers 0 Vulc 2, it won the day but lost the battle, these pics the last of the last pieces of the Vulcan at Blackpool, XL391 goodbye and good night .
Peter took some more pics this anoon , the tail was pretty much intact but I don’t think that it will be saved.
Brian Bateson was there today and when somebody asked him if that was who he was he denied it !
Peter the white bags just contain scrap small enough to go in there.
Some more pics from this morning when a Cessna 310 was thrown on the pile and ripped apart.
Was there first thing they made pretty short work of the starboard wing , I then went flying myself and when I got back I took the last few pics where the tail was pretty much the only thing left.
From complete to completely wrecked had taken just six hours.
The only parts that i saw being removed where small parts by enthuisasts, tonight as I left the airport they were erecting a fence around the remaining carcass.
I saw it arrive and now I have watched it leave , albeit the arrival and go around were much better than the procession of scrap wagons it left on.
In case you wonder what is painted on the wing it was the words “Comed lives!” ,that in relation to a flying school on the airfield who have a reputation for sailing close to the wind.
Some pics from today .

Not to sure about the quotes regarding car parking space , in this months copy of Loop the whole fleet at the Blackpool Air Centre is up for sale!
