RE: What level of taxation do you have in your country?

in the uk you have direct and indirect taxes – you can’t aovid the first and its pretty hard to avoid the latter

these numbers are rough (oh and BTW a , in the uk is the equivilant of a . in europe)

    direct

you are aloud your first 4,500 tax free
then you pay 10% of the next £1,500 you earn (starting at £4,500)
you then pay 22% (23% in scotland) (starting at £6,000 and all the way up to aroound £30,000)
everything above £30,000 is taxed at 40%

you then pay 10% in natioanl insurance which cuts inat around £250 per month (s opposed to per year for the rest of these figures)

    indirect

we pay 17.5% on all good exceptt food, books, nespapers, etc
    womens hygen stuff is 4.5%
beer, petrol, cigs, etc all have extra duties

there are laods more little taxes but tha cover it i think

    😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

i understand your difficulties 😀 😀 😀 – i could never read what you lot read in a foriegn lanuguage.

well done to all of you

the inability of being able to edit after one hour is a bummer , but unless you could introduce a wrod type spellchecker (as you type) i feel it would be little use (ie by me }>)

    RE: 28 biljion for smoking

    1) basically i can buy a pack of cigs in france for half the price as they are in the uk, in belgium its less and they all still have tax on them.

    2) i acept that we pay money for them suing the nhs but they have pumped billions into the goverment coffers, and with the low suvial rate for lung cnacer they don’t hang about long to get into their 80s (20 years of state pension later) where they would use hospitials more and more and if their lucky (ver lucky) get a state nursing home.

    RE: 28 biljion for smoking

    I LOVE SMOKERS !!!

why ??? – all these gullible prats pay a huge amount of tax and this helps me on two counts

    1) i pay less tax than i would if there was no smokers, they die sooner hence less money i pay for their pensions, etc
    2) when i go to france HM customs and excise alow me to bring back up to 800 cigerates from the continent (where they are half price) for my (ach hem) “personal” use – everyone who goes to the continet know a smoker who would kindly contribute to the cost of their trip, while a toatlly unrealted }> amount of cigarets are given to tehm for free 😀

i win all round, as i won’t die of passive smoking as smoking is forbinden just about every where

    RE: Christmas is coming

due to the gluf stream all we get is rain ! ok we get some frost.

snow – now that is a raiety – maybe a handfull (3 or 4) days of snow a year and even that is not serious stuff. the gritters go out, we ave a day of toboganing down any hill on anything we can find and thats it – it melts very quickly.

as a nation we are totally unprepared for snow or the cold – all we are preapred for is the rain. someone didi a study and more ppeople die proportianl of hypothermia in the uk than finland – this is due to our houses not being built for the cold, etc while finland is very ready for it
