Democracy in the true sense of the word is a myth – the majority never gets its way

It’s either some doggy representative democracy (e.g. UK and USA) or PR (Europe) that ends up with all groups with an interest governing

i.e. at the end of the day Iraq won’t be able to go to war with Israel, turf Americans out or cut the oil supplies and most importantly they be locked into a liberal stance (i.e. no Islamic state)

Welcome to the wonders of liberal democracy – the democracy is limited by the liberalism 😉

In this case however you have the wrong idea

It is very simple to add up the defence spending of all EU countries and you come to a total equal to the USA and fro a lesser percentage of GDP (i.e. there are 450 million of us and only 270 million of you)

So the point is made, especially by federalists over here in Europe and by lots of Americans – that Europe should do more stuff itself

For the same money we are only able to get a few top class jet squadrons yet America has all the support structure – ie spy sats, tankers, awacs, inter continental airlift, etc, etc (this was the post war analysis of kosovo)

The result of this was to raise the issue of force integration but it is not liked by the UK or the 4 neutral members of the EU and is loved by France :rolleyes: :p

The NATO awacs fleet is seen as the way to go but how is the issue

national sovereignty is also something at stake

Some one has to come up with an American style answer (i.e. a military base by just about every service in every state) – however the whole EU-NATO relationship has to be sorted out (some problem)

not religious at all really so everyone in my family get a choclate egg they have already choseen fromt eh supermarket

normally we go off to see a motocross (or take part in running one) either today or tommorrow (ie today there was round of the national championships on that we could have gone to)

Hey lots of people fought in the world wars – be they “from he empire” or from occupied countries or wherever – the UK has been mainly bankrupt and dilapidated since ww2 and only began getting back on our feet with the oil boost and Tory government of the 1980’s – we have not been in a position to give out anything or do very much since we fought WW1
