RE: I don’t like Mondays
“Interesting comment. Perhaps it has more to do with the suggestion that the US is more “civilised” than Europe that upsets you?
Or are you disagreeing with the figures?
Though I do see you logic that taking firearms off law abiding citizens would reduce CRIMINAL USE OF FIREARMS. In much the same way that banning all drugs from Morphine to Disprin is the perfect answer to the problems of ilegal drug use.”
yes i do feel that there should be no gun.
everyone having a gun does not prevent crime at all, it just increases the cases where people make mistakes .
eg if i had a gun and got pissed off i might then use it instead of just having a normal fight with some one (which im more likley to survive from).
i do not belive that “civilised” has anything to do with it but i really disagree with the american idea of just about everyone being able to own a not just a hunting rifle, but pistols, uzis, combat shotguns, etc.
im ok with hunting rifles and normal shotguns in rural areas but giun anywhere else should be left to trained porofessional.
however it is up to the americans to decide what to do in their own country, not me (don’t get me started on the wording of the second amendment).

RE: The Golden Jubilee
she made a promise at the time of her father’s death to carry out her role for life so that could be going back on her word.
im really in favour of her – other members of the family impress me a lot less, but im still a monarchists.

RE: I don’t like Mondays
what a load biased crap!!!
On the other hand, the author
>doesn’t seem too objective either, judging by the title of
>his book …
“Mr. Lott is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and the author of ‘More Guns, Less Crime’
(University of Chicago Press, 2000). “
hmm i agree there about his objectivity
ok i’ve stayed pretty much out of this one but this shite:
>In 1996, Britain banned handguns. The ban was so tight that
>even shooters training for the Olympics were forced to
>travel to other countries to practice. In the six years
>since the ban, gun crimes have risen by an astounding 40%.
>Britain now leads the U.S. by a wide margin in robberies and
>aggravated assaults. Although murder and rape rates are
>still lower than in the U.S., the difference is shrinking
>quickly. Dave Rogers, vice chairman of the Metropolitan
>Police Federation, said that despite the ban, “the
>underground supply of guns does not seem to have dried up at
>all.”
>
>And both Britain and Australia have been thought to be ideal
>places for gun control because they are surrounded by water,
>making gun smuggling relatively difficult. By contrast
>smuggling is much easier on the Continent or within the U.S.
so how does me walking round with a gun help ???
the main reason for the rise in gun crime is the fall of the soviet union and comunsism making more guns (and other stuff) avalible for peanuts. after the albians had some problems back in like 1998, you could by an ak for less than a dollar.
>Gun-control advocates frequently ignore another inconvenient
>fact: Many countries with high homicide rates have gun bans.
>It is hard to think of a much more draconian police state
>than the former Soviet Union, with a ban on guns that dated
>back to the communist revolution. Yet newly released data
>show that from 1976 to 1985 the U.S.S.R.’s homicide rate was
>between 21% and 41% higher than that of the U.S.
>Many French politicians complained during their presidential
>election that the shooting in Paris meant “it’s getting like
>in America, and we don’t want to see that here.” Americans
>may draw a different lesson from the evidence, and hope that
>they don’t become more like the Europeans.
what a total load of horseshit
