    RE: OUR BELOVED FORUM

i think you mean 1000 threads.

since when i first joined (a year ago now) i’ve posted 1800+ times. i also rember when there was a 4th forum which no really visited, and both airliner world and flypast didn’t really have a new post every day or if so only a few. recently both forums have taken off and afm had become very busy.

ahh i can remember so much i feel really old

we had problem with some idot on afm slagging off comet and he was “delt with” (though he was very rude). saying something like that can best be done by email.

i’m going to stay out of it (hopefully)

    RE: Airshow prices…

i know eaxctly what you mean as we in the world of motcross ahve the smae problem – poor clubss if they want to run a gp have to pay£1/4 miilion to out equivilant of bernie eccleston and then lash out £100k to run the event and only get income from people through the gates. these clubs are oftne staffed by volunter like uncle keith mca and me , and the site of these VIP being treated in comfort while we slog away is to put it midley anoying.

too rach a compromise in a dream world oth should be avalible. i mena could one not get say an old spitfire thats had parts raided from it to keep other airboren say be tarted up with replica parts so kids could sit in it. one of my most profound memories of henden when i visited when i was small was 1) walking through the sunderland and 2) sitting in some small plane. it is nice to have the other planes preserved but when i visited MAPS the resortation people near me (see that thread) i touvhed a spitfire, tried to lift a wheel , felt the wing – that touch is a very important experiance.

RE: Duxford American Air Museum Moves

    my 2 cents …

dunno about enginering at all but couldn’t you just make a 2 floor musem to get it all in ??? i think the AAM is the new one right so why not make it like that from the start ? (you know like a carrier with big lifts to move stuff about say ?)
