planes, cars, truck, 2+ story building, baseball/cricket bat, knife, tools, power tools etc all have other legitimate uses. As far as I am aware the only reason that guns exist are to terminate life.

I think there are quite a few still flying. I know that one had a crash landing with buffalo airways at Yellowknife due to a gear fault:

Are you SERIOUS?
You accuse the cops of being thugs then accuse them when they FOLLOW ORDERS issued by SMT’s to stand back and allow the riots to happen.
The SMT’s were so scared of another tomlinson that they didn’t want to get heavy.
So, what would you be saying if they had waded in with truncheons and spray and people had been hurt/killed?
You people really want the Police to be thugs when it suits you. Incredible.

Right, I see – How many police officers do you see each day? how many terrorists?
Still, it doesn’t matter whats said, the Police are evil, they’d rather hit you then help you and I’ll bet none of you have ever called the Police over something, of course not you all think they are violent thugs.
I’m done with this thread. I sincerely hope none of you ever need the Police but I do know that if you do they won’t care about your hatred of them, they will be professional and do their job. I just hope that you can be just as courteous to them.

1. Harwood would relish being sent into harsh conditions where his life and those of his colleagues would be in danger?
2. I wasn’t talking about the alcohol, I was talking about the homelessness. Tomlinsons family have kept saying how they looked after Tomlinson and how much a part of the family he was but the family still let him sleep rough for 10 years.
3. But that doesn’t fit. Tomlinson collapsed sometime after Hardwood pushed him. The officers tending to tomlinson and the protestors attacking them would have had no knowledge of the previous incident.

There is one other group that needs special treatment – the mentally ill. Don’t underestimate the amount of ‘care in the community’ calls that officers attend.
I fully agree with you regarding the ethnic diversity training and so would most frontline officers but that won’t change for some years because the higher ups are terrified of being branded racist. Of course, this is having a bad morale effect on the frontline officers when safety training is scaled back for diversity training.
At which point did officers band together over tomlinson? The officer in question already had a previous complaint on file from another officer and was tried in a court of law where the jury was made up of the public – what else was missing?
Three things I’ll flag here:
1. Simon hardwood was a TSG officer. They get sent into some of the worst situations imaginable.
2. Where was his family when tomlinson was living rough?
3. Why does no one mention the protestors who attacked Police trying to save Tomlinson when he collapsed?

ppp – I’m not talking about special protection, I’m talking about cases were some little so and so puts in a complaint about police brutality because and Officer had to pin him to the floor to arrest him. Should that really stay on record for 10 years if it’s proven that the gentleman in question made a false allocation?
Yes, it is the people in power but you childed me for blaming it all on the conservatives a few posts up.

If the whole thing about the public not needing more diversity training were true then why have so many people been demanding that the police get diversity training? -> http://inspectorgadget.wordpress.com/2011/02/23/diversity-training-day/
As for your speeding comment I don’t know of any roads officer that has been involved for or against speeding reviews. It’s all been done by higher ups who, yet again, have been listening to the vocal majority and telling officers to target speeders – why? Because it makes their figures look good.
Classic example – you speed and are stopped by the Police – thats a detected and solved crime. +1 for the bloke in charge.
An officer goes to a burglary – thats a detected crime but now there is more police time required to solve it. Bloke upstairs isn’t happy. he has an unsolved crime on the books.
There are two files for civilian arrests. If someone is arrested and released then it’s removed from the record fairly shaprly. If they get charged and there is a fine or something it stays on record for 10 years/permanently (there are two sets of record for background checks).
What I was saying is that you can walk down the street, talk to an officer, get the badge number then put in a complaint about them and that complaint is on file forever. That is WRONG.
