It’s not just a code, the site wants an email address as well.
no thanks.
It’s not the first place I’ve heard this. The 747-400 simply is not as fuel economic as the newer aircraft so it makes sense for airlines to invest in new aircraft and recoup some of the savings via fuel costs.
How long is the flight from Iqaluit s to Qikiqtarjuaq? If he got pulled at Qikiqtarjuaq due to the alcohol levels how impaired was he before take off and why didn’t the other pilot on the flight deck say anything?
which is why the general rule is ’24 hours from bottle to throttle’.
It makes no sense to me that a pilot would choose to drink knowing they had a flight to do especially in a hostile environment like Nunavut.
Agreed, it’s almost like the Nigerian authorities are blaming the aircraft for daring to crash without looking into the reasons behind it. Crazy.
So they haven’t even identified the cause but are blaming the aircraft? It seems to me that an airline with just five (well four now) aircraft might be doing some pencil maintenance to save on costs?
It seems that Dana Air have also been grounded (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-18330586) until they pass a re-certification check. It also seems that Dana Air only have MD-80’s so even if they pass the check they won’t be able to fly…….
Great collection of photos, I do like the 757.
Interesting Cathy Pacific shot in part one – quite the raging fire off in the distance in that photo.
Terrible…….
‘On approach to Lagos it clipped a power line and crashed into a two-story building in the Iju area of Lagos’
Seems hard to believe that a power line could bring down a large passenger jet and if true what the hell was he doing so low
So after a hefty vets bill Annie, the whiteish cat in the photos looks set to make a full recovery although she has lost her tail. That has not stopped her getting around and she still wants to get back out into the big world.
That cat is crazy.

the daily mail like many ‘news’papers goes more for shock stories. They are the sort of newspaper who reports that Police officers are to get overtime pay for the olympics and that a coastguard crew landed on a beach during training and went for an ice cream.
i.e. stuff that isn’t news they are trying to make news out of

I work in IT and have always wanted to get one of these calls to see exactly what they were trying to get access to
Ditto. I have a Win7 virtual machine sitting in ESX and firewalled that I’d point them at. They’d think they were on a real PC but would be nicely contained.

Saturday is a good day but normally heaving. Last time I went (2008) the Airbus stand was absolutely mobbed by people and getting the bus back to Farnborough Main took over an hour.
Sunday is a good day because it’s quieter but tends to have a slightly alerted display. You don’t get to see all the good stuff.
I’ve ordered a ticket for Friday and have booked the day off. As has been pointed out – no kids, it’ll be quieter, I’ll drive there this time and I’m hoping it’ll be a better atmosphere as it’s enthusiasts.
