…the RN would have to add a completely new logistics chain to support another type and a new training stream to support those kind of operations. Finally the RN already operates the Merlin meaning the support, logistics, training and maintenance stream is already established for an already purchased aircraft.

Ok, so why not develop a Mantis AEW drone?
I mean c’mon, you gotta admit a Mantis AEW drone would be AWESOME!

Dude, seriously, using a chopper for AEW just plain sucks.
Why not develop a small, turboprop STOL aircraft for AEW?
I mean c’mon, OV-10’s were able to take off and land from LHA’s no problem and they didn’t even have a ski jump. I don’t see why it would be such a big deal to come up with some sort of fixed wing AEW aircraft for the QEC.

Dude, seriously, why not use something like a Pilatus PC-6 for AEW?
I mean, c’mon all y’all gotta do is give it some folding wings and stick a rotodome on top!

Dude, seriously, the UK should consider joining the Next-Generation Bomber program. I mean c’mon, this would be a win-win situation for both countries! The US would get some additional technical and financial support to develop the thing and the UK would get a long range strike aircraft AND a second platform for launching nukes for a lot less money than if they were to develop something on their own.

No it really isnt when, to get it, a requirement exists to develop viciously expensive shore-side nuclear support infrastructure and berthing, train up 4000 personnel for crew and stand up four or more dedicated naval fighter squadrons plus basing. As you’ve been spoonfed several times…guess why a ludicrously massive spend like that is not going to happen?!.

    ….dude.

Yeah, well, y’all should consider spending more money on the military.
I mean c’mon, the UK still has one of the largest economies in the world. There’s no reason why the RN shouldn’t have at least 150 ships and around 500 aircraft in it’s inventory.

Dude, no offense, but I think y’all are too cheap when it comes to military spending. Y’all gotta think BIG!

Dude, seriously, wouldn’t it be awesome to have 30 carriers and re-conquer USA ?

Dude, seriously, how do you “re-conquer” [sic] a country you’ve never conquered in the past?

When it needs to warfight it is configured to deliver 136 sorties per day and that is a good number.

Ford class can do 220. That’s an even better number. 😉

Dude, seriously, don’t y’all think the RN would’ve been better off buying two or three Ford class ships? C’mon, be honest;)

NO FLEET CARRIER WAS EVER TRANSFERRED BY USN TO ANOTHER NAVY! 😡

Dude, seriously, is there any good reason why we shouldn’t start? I mean c’mon, I’m sure a lot of our allies wouldn’t mind a refurbished super carrier.

Dude, seriously, why are these ships only able to carry up to 40 aircraft? I mean c’mon, aren’t these things going to be like 60,000 ton ships? Clemenceau and Charles de Gaulle are quite a bit smaller but can carry the same number of aircraft. Seems like QEC should be able to carry more.

Dude, seriously, how many times does this have to happen before the dumb teachers smarten up and start packin’? I mean c’mon, if just ONE teacher would’ve been armed this maniac could’ve been put down before he could get a shot off.
And can someone tell me why the students aren’t being trained to attack when they see a stranger with a gun? I mean c’mon a whole class room full of kids with the proper training should be able to disarm and subdue an attacker fairly easily.
