I guess that makes me a porn addict, as I’ve been collecting Caravelle photos and memorabilia for many years – check-out my username.
To answer the question about TZ-ADS in Corse Air colours, this was c/n 184, test-reg F-WLGC, Syrian Arab as YK-AFA from 1965 and donated to Air Mali as TZ-ADS in 1980. Apparently they didn’t have much use for it, as it was quickly leased out, initially to CTA, then Corse Air, who eventually bought it as F-GEPC. It had an active life thereafter in the Pacific, back in France and eventually Colombia where many of the marque survived for some time occasionally hauling cargo – sometimes of dubious legality.
Should anyone have a decent photo of any Sterling Caravelles with the word “PRESIDENT” in red and black letters along with the Sterling titles, I and others would be very pleased to see it, and also to know when and where it was taken. It seems that in 1979-80 Sterling offered some kind of “posher” service with a reduced number of seats and fittings borrowed from their ex-United Airlines examples, and marked the relevant aircraft “President” – OY-SAA, SAC, SAD, SAE and SAF are the suggested candidates. However, there is hardly any photographic evidence, John Wegg (who wrote the Caravelle bible) didn’t know anything about this episode and enquiries made of the old Sterling company and other Danish sources have not got anywhere. The only online photo I ever found has disappeared, which leaves me with one I can’t post here as it’s a scan of someone else’s slide. Neither are good clear shots anyway.
Thanks
Caravelle
Re the Sterling ‘President’ Caravelles, there’s a photo of OY-SAC suitably marked up here:
Nice set of shots! You caught that Herc well!
Certainly not pretty but can’t help but like it! Nice shot that shows off the wingspan nicely.
That’s a nice set. I do like the BA E195 shot
The 2-shots in the sun are lovely!
I do like the Emirates & GSM B738 CEJP
It is a shame your lovely shots are let down by a god-awful colourscheme!
I rather like it! 🙂
Cracking set of photos!
