Thanks for the update! – I always failed to go to OW in favour of twenty years+ of Duxford. Then moving to Oundle from God’s own county in 2010, (Shropshire) I took young Nipper Bantock last year as a treat on my birthday (yes Daddy’s treat to Jr!). I have to say I really enjoyed it – even if Mrs Bantock was snoring in the back of the Volvo!….but she was on picnic duty!
These shots only give me more reasons to get in the car for the 25min drive this weekend – so thank you Sir!!!!
Amazing how in the climate it lies – it looks so clean.
In fact it has an air of sun bleached bones in the Serengeti?
You have to say that it was a thing of beauty.
Something that would have probably stirred something in Eric Brown? Certainly looks his bag?
Do you know where this was taken? The chaps on the left appear to be digging a hole? 😀
……..Shirley a myth? Let’s not let that stop it’s potential for participation at Legends!! 😀
……..will it be at Legends? :diablo:
Charlie Brown and the Fury at DX please – needs a camera in the office to capture the grin under the ‘tache!
The Fighter collection cats – tail chasing – but with a respectable gap to get all of the engine notes seperately!……….pet hate that they used to always fly in formation!
DH88 at Old Warden ……the new P40C at DX
Probably too hopeful but the Blenheim……?
Finally……….as usual Mr Grey as the Joker.
…….Eric Brown in frankly anything as the list is endless!……..probably something a little hairy – safest pair of hands!
…….Hoof Proudfoot (impossible aircraft but) Hurricane – loved his displays.
…….Ray Hanna in a Gnat.
……..Alex Henshaw Spitfire.
……..but ‘Ballerina’ looked to be getting ready to take her first spin of the year ?
Aaaahhh swoon! She’s so beautiful! Probably my favourite! I want one!…….where do i start digging?;)
[QUOTE=Discendo Duces;1983037]How did a Spitfire wing come to be lying in a hedge in Devon?
…….missed the last crate to Burma?
In somewhat hazy conditions for photography, the TFC Mk XIVe Spitfire was tied down at the end of the runway for an engine run this morning.
Brian
Hhhmmm mk XIV? Perhaps there’s an opportunity for a press call when Burmese muddy water has been pumped away!?
My gripe is I served in the RAF, I never served in the USAF, so why is there the likes of a P-51D in the RAF museum in USAF colours etc, either paint it a period RAF scheme or shuffle it off to Cosford…. I can totally understand having the German stuff there as they were the opposition, but if you are going to have a Mustang put it in an RAF scheme, after all it IS supposed to be a museum celebrating the RAF.
Cosford already has a Mustang. Paint her again says I. Whilst we’re on the subject let’s have a B17 in coastal command colours.
Can you imagine B17 Preservation’s aircraft in the white scheme against a blue sky?
Yikes! They’ve bust the ‘Naff-meter’ !
Oddly charming though. That looks a great place to work.
Now then – young Nipper Bantock is now asking why Santa doesn’t come to his house in a Mustang!
With due credit to Paul178:
Here’s the miscreant! Hands on head – aaaarrrgghhhh – so that’s a spitfire!
Yep they’ve done that before – only it’s now much worse and heads must roll!
Never let your mac man choose your images! I did once and was similarly embarrassed!
Last year there was a formation of “spitfire” mk 1.5s in the top right corner!
Achtung Spit-cane?
