the threads on this post seem to take it for granted that as PA474 is operated by the BBMF it will be around forever, one day however there may be a cut in funding…..

That’s bound to happen if a private company gets a Lancaster onto the airshow circuit.

However, do airshows and events have to pay the BBMF for their displays? Being part of the RAF my guess is no. So would they pay for a private Lanc when they can get the free public one?

Exactly Zac, it didn’t leave the airfield and go off to some foreign museum as was hoped by the masses on the forums. I don’t believe the other one is on public display at all, and the one at Masterton is not in a public museum, it’s a private collection. It can be seen at open days and that’s about it.

I’m not making that assumption whatsoever. All I’m saying is it’s not up to the enthusiasts on this forum to decide where they will go, especially as the film hasn’t even started being filmed yet. I still recall a few years back when everyone tried to tell the film company where the two Curtiss Helldiver repllicas “needed” to go to after filming King Kong. How did that work out for you all?

UK producer (Frost), writer (Fry)…some actors…perhaps the production funding come from the mother country.

I’m not arguing one bit. I expect there will be a big launch in London and another in Wellington. As far as I recall I’ve never questioned where the premiere will be!I’ve never even considered it to my knowledge.

A small Masterton aerodome is gaining nationwide attention as it hides a
replica of a World War II bomber called a Lancaster, to be used in
Peter Jackson?s remake of the classic /Dambusters/ movie.

The film’s makers were attempting to keep the replica a secret but word
has leaked out to the locals.

“I’ve seen the odd plane skidding around and they have helicopters,”
says resident Paul Haustein.

“I presume they are part of the filming crew and you often see the
bi-planes floating around the sky.”

While there have been no official statements, 3 News believes the plane
is one of 10 designed by Weta Workshop and manufactured in China.

The bomber was brought out to test new digital technology which will
help bring the remake of the 1955 film to life.

‘The Dambusters’ was originally directed by Michael Anderson and is
based on the true story of the technological break-through which allowed
Lancaster bombers to drop highly advanced bombs in German dams..

There’s very little substance in that article whatsoever. So some pommy museum hasn’t heard anything for a while so the film is delayed? Considering the official sources told them it’s still being worked on, I’d say this is a media beat up. What a waste of time.
