looks like CSAR to me..
I thought they were slightly different, i.e interfaces and programming.
The warhead, propulsion, guidance and airframe are the same!
what about the Black Shaheen, how is that different (smaller fuel tank?)
Cheers
0.3 m as stated above 😉 It was 1 m for the Captor-C.
I thought they got sub 1 meter resolution on the Captor C by some very clever software algorythms the actual figure was .5m or 0.7m.. I know i heard that somewhere but can’t recall where..
I have to ssay 0.3 is very respectable.
cheers
IIRC the Typhoons SAR resolution is in the sub meter range.
Luftwaffe aircraft are using the Sky Buzzer which was not introduced before block 5. A hint on the Lufwaffe examples which aircraft sports TRDs and which not are the covers on the right DASS pod. Red cover = not TRD, White cover with black X = TRD.
Do any use the crosseye system, or was that shelved? and does that take up a TRD space?.
Cheers
Am I the only one to have put BW in my ignore list ?
I don’t do ignore lists.. for one simple reason:-
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day..:)
There is another mission the Eurofighter is considerably better at.
Getting export orders.
Ooooh so cruel but accurate so far.. lol
While the Typhoon is perfectly capable to detect possible threats in a 360deg bubble and display them in one of the side display , it can ‘t provide possible courses of actions to the pilot , like the possibility to ask the autopilot to set-up a new flight plan from the RF findings (and avoiding them) because there is no AI running the show in the background .
DASS (and the Logic behind Praetorian) is not made and tailored to run the entire weapon system ~the aircraft .
The Typhoon does indeed propose courses of action with the DASS the missile approach warners give the pilot automatic queues to avoid the missile showing a vector and countdown to execute that vector to best avoid the incoming, meanwhile the Flares or Chaff/Jaff will be popping off at the most appropriate intervals without the pilots involvement, he can of course pop a few off if he feels the need ( I would be pooping a few off if there was a missle inbound :D)Also if there is a detection of a radar the Typhoon will advise which course to fly, and show the aspect which is the least ‘reflective’ to the emitter.
This is how integrated it all is now, I’m sure the Rafale does the same (exports excepted:)).
Cheers
I like the Lerx’s, intake and the rear RWR deserves an award.

In this video it states the targets were destroyed by a typhoon, what weapons were used?, they seem a bit small for bombs.
cheers
Heres a little bit that might ring some alarm bells..
http://www.defensenews.com/story.php?i=6659984
“This jet has a very highly integrated avionics system. Because of that tight coupling and that highly integrated nature, it makes it very difficult, and we are highly reliant upon [Raptor makers] Lockheed Martin and Boeing to do any kinds of modifications to the jet,” said David Weber, deputy director of the F-22 System Program Office (SPO)
Weber said the open-architecture effort is meant to allow the Air Force to open upgrade work to competition.
Now the JSF is designed just like that, and the program spent a Billion to make it more watertight.
If the USAF don’t like being held to randsom by LM, should’nt export nations be more concerned??.
Cheers
Ok . Where would you try to fit AESA conformal arrays on the actual Typhoon ?
… :confused:Cheers .

Quite frankly they both are quite good options. Neither team should be ashamed to lose.
here here! I couldn’t agree more..

This is the one with stars!!

Bombing or escorting…
I know that they were sending out mixed pair Typhoon/Tornado earlier ( I thought it was because they had the benifit of both ECM systems and the Typhoon would benifit).
I can’t tell the difference between ther Typhoon and Tornado imagery, Can anyone give me a hint?
MoD state teh GR4 destroyed the ships, i guess well have to wait for the first markings to appear on the side of the aircraft.
If an aircraft designates for another does it qualify for a marking? I saw a picture of a Typhoon with 12 ‘stars’ on it.
Cheers
Spokesman Major-General John Lorimer said yesterday: “As well as hitting two corvettes in the harbour, the Tornados successfully targeted a facility in the dockyard constructing fast inflatable boats, which Libyan forces have used several times in their efforts to mine Misrata and attack vessels in the area.”
Seems the video is Tornado’s
Royal Air Force Tornados and Typhoons have struck Qadhafi regime warships anchored in Al Khums. As part of a coordinated attack by a number of nations taking part in Operation Unified Protector, the aircraft destroyed two warships and a facility in the dockyard constructing fast inflatable boats, which Libyan special forces have used several times in their efforts to mine Misratah and attack vessels in the area.
What were the Typhoon doing?
