found it stupid to contradict itself every sentence , for a “think” tank

Eurofighter’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has welcomed a new report by the UK’s Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies (RUSI) to be launched today in London (July 6th) as ‘positive and encouraging’.

Might be worth looking at.

Barcelona will host a high level Eurofighter Typhoon Ministerial Meeting this Monday and Tuesday.
The meeting in the Palace Capitanía de Barcelona and will have monitoring and controlling of the progress of the Eurofighter program on the agenda, including making decisions about the future and strategic directions.
Last meeting was 6 moths ago and there was a rash of newly funded items. So there may be some new news early in the week.!!
cheers
The former. One out of four listed by Sintra is spot on. As said shouldn’t be far away, so some patience is appropriate. Unless something unforesee happens at the last moment.
Hmmmmm…. we’ve been there before with another ME country and all seemed pretty much done and dusted.
Not something I want to see repeated, but I’ll sit here with my popcorn and watch…. patiently.
cheers
Some important and welcome news might be announced over the next few days.
I’m hoping it is a certain posters keyboard being stolen……..:p

That does not contradict the fact that the UAE dropped their request on the M88 after having tested the aircraft at home
Hmmmmmm… Have they dropped it? 🙂
The Typhoon offered to the UAE was by far the most capable, the needs of the UAE are not meet by either jet as produced now, the reports are that the UAE ware interested in funding an Mk2 version of either jet.
I think you”l find it was French industry that dismissed that the M88 was underpowered
French industry has said the 2011 Libya air campaign showed there was no need for a higher engine thrust on the Rafale.
Too bad we don’t know the corresponding payload.
He does quote
Even with tanks on.
and the minimal fit would see 4 MRAAM.
So two tanks and 4 MRAAMs minimum, depends if your feeling generous if you want to throw in the extra two SRAAM.
I have heard that the max supercruise speed is M1.5 but that’s clean (Clean means no tanks) and without a full fuel load, i.e. running away…..
Thinking about Vietnam, would the UK’s tranche 1 be offered??
I think Vietnam will go western to hedge against the dominance of the Russian kit they already have, and to provide an extra edge for the china issue. (political and industrial ties are useful)
Kuwait and Typhoon, Sheesh – anyones guess, split buy may be unusual, F18 would be adequate for defence, however if they want to be included in the top teir in that region then Eurofighter is a good choice.
Middle eastern buys are notorious for the fickle nature, and are prone to change at a moments notice, The UAE were by all accounts ready to sign up for Typhoon within days, but ‘mysterious things’ happened, they are still shopping around but their list of demands are very precise, upgrades would be required from both Rafale and Eurofighter (esp Rafale engines).
Eurofighter have offered the most capable aircraft they can, even more capable than the partner nations present offerings, but it comes at a cost. only time will tell 🙂
There’s also an article stating a previously unknown contact between Vietnam and select aircraft manufacturers (Boeing, LM, SAAB and Eurofighter) for their requirement to replace the MiG 21’s.
Cheers
Italy, with Alenia Aeronautica, leader committed multinational Eurofighter consortium
Posted by Editor on June 3, 2015 at 10:50Ongoing negotiations with the government of Kuwait to acquire Eurofighter Typhoon
Sources close to the parties confirm that the Government of Kuwait has invited a delegation of Alenia (Finmeccanica group) in their country to develop the final parts of a negotiation, which has lasted more than a year, which will lead to the signing of the agreement for the acquisition of an unspecified number of Eurofighter Typhoon.
Reports in the international press had recently given to abandoned this deal, but according to sources, the meetings are currently underway, with the support of the Italian Government and will soon be formalized contract. In particular, according to a statement today the British Ambassador in Kuwait, the contract could be signed soon by the parties.
In Italy this contract will lead to an order for the multinational Eurofighter consortium that takes care of the production and development of the Eurofighter project for the realization of the advanced multi-role fighter.
The consortium is made up of the best European aviation companies, representing four nations that have divided the project of which 46% EU, 33% by EADS Germany EADS, 13% Spain, EADS-Spain, 33% UK, with BAE Systems and Italy 21%, with Alenia Aermacchi “. More than 60,000 people in the four partner nations, involved in the program.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is the most advanced combat aircraft in Europe. Designed to meet the common needs of the Air Forces of Italy, Great Britain, Germany and Spain, it is an air superiority fighter with high performance.
According to the Kuwait choosing the Eurofighter Typhoon – tested also in recent international operations – due to the greater effectiveness of this aircraft that has proved it superior to other fighters involved in the same operations.

Kuwait to order Typhoon?? seems odd given the recent SH deal
The front of Taranis is rather a blunt point set forward of the intake unlike the Typhoon (:love-struck:), the lower half off the intake looks flat and not bulged as you would expect for any shock wave management.
(Long odd are against the nose producing a shock wave and the unusual triangle shaped inlet interacts with that wave by reducing the area of intake the higher up the triangle the wave front hits.)
That doesn’t preclude an internal ramp arrangement to slow the flow down, however the serpentine bend (like the Typhoon :love-struck:)to the turbine face its a bit tight for all that!! and it would need the spill bleed air to be managed internally i.e. could be piped to the rear to mix with the exhaust gases..
Hmmmmm….. That’s a lot of engineering that could be made vastly simpler if the intake was more like the X-47b.
In short Occums razor says the Taranis is designed for high subsonic.
The design parameters for the Taranis are flight controls and flight logic, the added complexity of supersonic flow and control does not seem to figure highly, granted that may be different in any future production model, But I would assume there would be a totally different test rig just for supersonic trials.
