Nah because the Mig 29 Ks/KUBs are more capable and smaller than the current fleet of SU 33s which would require extensive upgrades to be viable in the near future. The Mig 29Ks are already upgraded and add the Zhuk AE you will get a very formidable platform :). May be the Kuznet can carry more Mig 29Ks than it can Su 33s.
If they really wanted, they could upgrade those Su-33 platforms into Su-27SM level machines if not better.
Most random missile system ever.
Looks like more tweaking is in order.
The difference was possible and practically possible. Sure it might be able to drive its way through 2m of ice but what damage will it do to itself in the process?
What kind of stupid question is that?
The sub that did it didn’t fall apart now did it?
It’s not punching through 10 meters of concrete. It’s 2 meters of ice. Clearly a design parameter – one that doesn’t endanger the submarine.
I remember some time back we had a discussion on Typhoon ablity to break through thick ice ( > 2 m) and fire SLBM , although me andJonesy were of the opinion that would not be possible.
Some interesting info on Typhoon from “Cold War Submarine” by Norman Polmar
So it became possible all of a sudden eh?
Jonesy isn’t the be all end all of Naval information.
I’d think an Ohio could probably manage something similar if the USN wanted to do it. All you have to worry about is perishable food for the crew, really.
Definitely not. The Typhoon is massive – hence more storage space for supplies. That’s the real limiter.
In 2030 the USAF will have around 220 F-22s, 1500 F-35s, and 1200 or so UCAVs dedicated to tactical combat operations in addition to whatever bomber, cruise missile, and ICBM capabilities there are at the time.
Nothing wrong with that…..
Except that they won’t have 1500 F-35s? LOL.
Its not April and we are not fools.
Well, the Su-34 is said to have the RCS of a cruise missile. So go figure.
I also agree here. The Israeli air-force can deal with a few S-300 batteries, even if the crew is appropriately trained. Nevertheless and quite likely that such batteries will increase the attrition threshold for an Israeli incursion.
5 battalions would be quite a capable system!
I think at the moment the Sukhoi name has more credibility and respect worldwide.
Yes, but this is not as relevant as you might think considering it’s Russia who will keep these names alive in the near future.
I am afraid, that soon MIG will cease to exist. It will be included into Incorporated Aviabuilding Corporation. But it does not mean, that will cease to let out fighters under name MIG. Simply at Sukhoy and Mikoyan there will be one director. I believe, that the information on working out of an Light fighter for the Russian Air Forces and export soon will start to arrive.
This is old news, there will be divisions in the UAC called Sukhoi and MiG, but it will be one corporation.
Operational Tu-160s feature RAM-treated intake trunks.
There we go, I can’t remember where I heard that, so I wrote it off as a “likely” case.
I sincerely doubt it will ever come to fruition, especially now with the “merger”. Russia is already putting all of it’s funds into the PAK FA, and along with the Su-35, I doubt they would actually put funds into a second fifth gen design since they already have one.
Yeah, really? You have their budget papers somewhere?
Can we see them?
————————————-
MiG isn’t going to go anywhere while there are MiGs in service in the RuAF, which seem to be non-existent in the minds of the people posting here. Their UAV work will also be another reason they are going to stick around.
Thats a sweet looking bird! But where the h-ll would MiG find the monney to develope a brand new fifth gen fighter like that? Its not like the company has had any huge export (or domestic) orders for the last 10 yrs. In fact I belive this classic aircraft manufacturer will go totaly bust and cease to exist if they dont win the Indian MRCA deal. (Which seems far from likely today). Very sad, but thats what I think.
Uhh, government funding obviously? They should technically have the resources of the UAC now.
What the heck is that nonsense LOL!?
The Russians have been using RAM on aircraft starting with the Su-34/35, possibly even the Tu-160 according to some sources.
I’ll bet they’re still having that arguement in 50 years.
Until your link gets jammed and you’re FUBARed.
How about your control center gets hit with a ballistic missile?
