I have seen no reference to a tracked version, only the wheeled version that will apparently include a number of improvements.

So what version is this technically? The M-3?

Why no comment? It is a wheeled and generally improved version of the Buk system. It is a very long way from not being just CG but apparently there is a timeline for mock-ups and then prototypes.

I think they will be interested in a tracked version too? Or is this simply a wheeled version of the latest Russian one? Buk-M1-2 or Buk-M3?

With all due respect I do not know where to start in commenting about your post.

Because you spew the same BS all the time. It must have gotten old for you too.

You are pontificating about a paper airplane to this point with virtually nothing but conjecture to base your opinions on.

Paper airplane to you, but not the people to whom it matters at this point. As you seem to agree with below.

Can you not see how much of your time you are wasting in your PAK/FA boasts when no one outside of the design bureau has even a clue as to how the aircraft will look and perform?

That’s good. That gives the competition less time to come up with something better. Pogosyan has already stated that he wasn’t impressed with the F-22 in terms of aerodynamic performance. Considering more if known about the F-22 than the T-50, Pogosyan and his 1000+ engineers have targets to exceed. Warning: Mind boggling logic here.

Furthermore your faith in the state of the art Russian radar and ECM gear is again without proof just conjecture.

Where is yours in the stuff of the F-22? Thin air?

An AESA version of the Irbis will exceed the F-22’s APG-77 in terms of raw performance by far, and unless you can prove otherwise, I don’t want to hear it, as the numbers speak for themselves. – Allowing “Irbis-AESA” to be far less prone to jamming and lets the PAK-FA be even safer in terms of combat vs 4 and 4+ gen fighters. Against the F-22/F-35 it just allows it to detect them from farther.

I am sure Sukhoi will be building a competitive fighter that will perform well and push the Russian state of the art. But until it is more than a source of rumour and conjecture on message boards stop wasting your time.

This thread is created for the purpose of discussion, which is mostly about how crap the PAK-FA is at this point and how great the F-35 and F-22 are.

Nobody is saying that they can’t design a stealthy design, or one with good aerodynamic performance. I do have my doubts that they will exceed the F-22/35 maturity/technology/performance, on their first try though. That’s not to say that the PAK FA won’t be an excellent aircraft.

The F-35 isn’t even in the class of the PAK-FA, so how is that relevant?

You also do realize that if the PAK-FA costs 70 – 80 million / unit – it’s basically superior to the F-22 no matter where its technical specs are “short”? If they are, which is going to be debatable.

LM has MARGINAL – literally hardly any REAL experience over Sukhoi! What non-sense is that? The F-22/F-35 were the first stealth fighters they built, or first and second, depending if you count weight class. Stealth isn’t magic, or some patented wonder technology. Why isn’t everyone doing it then right? R&D money – which the Russians have plenty of now. And the right development bureaus, which are plenty. You see the trend here?

But since you are stealth fan boy you will whine and whine about how the LO advantage of LM from the F-117 must be uber, though the aircraft in question in this thread are not even comparable to the F-117. Disregarding actual aircraft specs in other aspects, the ECM systems, the countermeasure systems, the weapons, etc.

Such a whiner lol 😀 Can’t even accept that you’re biased and racist.

Yep- with their long line of previous stealth air frames, who could possibly question their expertise?:D

…………and your place in the scheme of things is where???;)

Not questioning 1000+ people doing R&D in the year 2008 with a design parameter (stealth) that merely needs tweaking for optimization.

I am not a regular reader of this thread so my apologies if my comments seem misplaced…

According to leaks from the Norwegian evaluation one of the main reasons why F-35 won and Gripen NG lost in Norway was a future PAK FA.

Simulations between a future PAK FA and 4.5 gen. Gripen showed that the 4.5gen plane did not do very well.

F-35 however did pretty well against the PAK FA.

So you may say that PAK FA has claimed it’s first victim: Gripen NG in Norway.

    L

    PS
The Swedes are furious and have asked why the simulations did not take into account Gripens EWS… oh well. I guess it was just turned off that day? Besides, the effects of EWS is probably hard to simulate?

This is called the “WAG” method eh?

    “Wild ass guess”

I realize intelligence may be more informed than we are, but how accurate could have this sim been when we don’t even know the basic specs of the PAK-FA?

There should be photos of Gorshkov available somewhere . . . the ship is already being built.

    Again, learn to read.

Not in the context of that sentence.

Targeted vs fired. Big difference. 😀

Nothing better than a bunch of forum enthusiasts taking over the expertise positions of Sukhoi in designing stealthy airframes.

Again, you need to start reading. There are multiple scenarios underwhich ballistic missiles could be targeted at Europe from the Middle East.

And you need to retract your racism comment.

    Targeted vs fired. Big difference.
