Did the Russians use any ARMs during the entire conflict?
I don’t think they used many, if any PGMs thoughout the South Ossettian conflict (except ATGWs)?
I recall seeing Su-24/25s firing single trail weapons, which could have meant Kh-25 or Kh-29.
Also, a Fencer on a SEAD mission could be far higher in altitude than one on ground attack, so it’s more than likely we’ll never see a video of one using the Kh-58/31.
Somehow, I doubt the majority would agree with your conclusion……..
Yup, because nothing Russia makes can even come close to Uncle Sam products. That’s new coming from you.
Again, would you like to compare the hull numbers and operational tempo of the Russian Navy with the USN?
No, since it’s not relevant.
Most of our PATRIOT missiles are in the Middle East or Asia. There aren’t any actually deployed to defend the borders of the USA. That’s left up to interceptors, which may or may not have any luck finding a swarm of inbound Kh-55s or Kh-102s. Russia, on the other hand, has MiG-31 units as well as a mess of deployed S-300P series batteries. At last count I had located 53 occupied and 50 unoccupied S-300P positions inside of Russia alone. And they’re all situated to defend cities or other high-value military targets.
A mix of S-300PS/PM units?
Also, can you elaborate a little on occupied vs unoccupied positions?
Some are simply left in case the needed arises to use them?
I would assume the Astute is approximately equal to the Virgina Class SSN’s. As for the Akula 2 its getting to be a very dated design…………Which, means its likely closer in capabilities with the Los Angles Class SSN’s. (maybe)
Yes the Akula is basically either equal to your Improved LA class or better than those in the latter versions.
The Virginia / Astute should be of the same class, which the Russians intend to match and surpass with the Yasen.
JonJames, do you still believe the PAK-FA is only vapour-ware and in fact is only a scam to make money, as you have posted before?

I was thinking it was him too hahaha 😉
Jon James will be banned . . . again. . .
You agree that the ICBM’s, SLBMs go nowhere near Poland from Bastion waters, are out of reach from GBI’s based in Poland. So precisely how can the Americans even try to use the system against Russia?. So how are they a threat against Russia?.
Well, it could potentially shield NATO? The UK and France still do have nuclear weapons, and Russia VS US “MAD” is more like Russia vs NATO “MAD” at the moment.
Shoddy American engineering.
I thought the S-300 was invincible?
I think ground forces must have got it because theres no way an aircraft could from what i’ve been told, *
Wtf is that supposed to mean?
The Georgians didn’t have nearly enough SAMs to have a strong AD network, let alone an “invincible” one.

And if that’s the radar, where are the launchers? Might that have been the demise of the Backfire? Or was the radar just there for recon purposes.
Echo
Agreed. Thats quite the point. The system is vulnerable to Russian strike. Its not sited there to counter the Russians so there is no need for it to be protected against them!. How threatened do you honestly need to feel by a system you can obliterate at a whim?.
All the Russians did was announce they are taking a specific measure to counter the system. Is there something wrong with this? It’s also hard to say the Americans wouldn’t try to use the system against Russia, since that’s POSSIBLE – even if the ICBM and especially SLBM trajectories may be a little out of the Polish system’s reach.
Care to compare the number of sea days the US does a year compared to the Russian Navy?
I’d rather look at actual accident rates.
I would be really surprised if a late production J-10 would be WORSE than a Su-27SM and MiG-29SMT.
Now put the J-10 against the Su-35BM or MiG-35 and I wonder who’s at the disadvantage.
They are as good as American PGM accuracy recently, and US Sub navigation/surfacing abilities.
I would agree……..
That said, most look like half Flanker and half Raptor! Which, makes sense……Personally, my biggest question is will the PAK-FA have internal weaposn bays?
What is that a joke?
Of course it’s going to have internal weapons bays, have you read anything posted in these threads?
It is worth noting that the PAK-FA is suppose to be a Strike Fighter somewhat along the lines of the F-35. Not a purely Air Superiority type like the F-15C or F-22A.
That’s pure garbage. The Su-34 is the strike aircraft. The PAK-FA is more of a jack of all trades and purely of 5th generation.
