Fighter planes is the last thing you should think about. Far far more important, all in exponents, is how will they deal with the banks and the financial crisis. That’s going to have a direct impact on your future payroll and how you are going to get money to pay off your house and send your kids to school. The geographical distance of Australia to the US means absolutely nothing when money moves at internet speeds.
Welcome to a fan boy forum that wishes for WW3. 😡

Accuracy International AW .308 is my guess.
That would have been my guess too, I didn’t know they used it, seems they do.
Can anyone ID that sniper rifle the middle guy is holding, top photo that Lonevolk posted.
Also, Lonevolk, where did you find these pics? Are there more?
I will translate this news feed later.
One thing they say is it will be ready for serial production in TWO years.
This is the AL-41 I am assuming, and next year, the jet will fly with the 117S?
Yamadaev’s Vostok was there. 100%. Above and beyond any reasonable doubt. According to rumors pro-Kadyrov Zapad’s commanders said “Its not our war. Fvck it”. I dont have evidence of their absence from S.O. But there is no evidence of their presence either. None. Therefore we will assume they didnt go until proven otherwise. Right?
😀 Good lad.
Nothing’s easier than to tell one from the other.
😀
VDV was.
Spetsnaz wasnt. Unless you have evidence that they were, in which case you should post it or GTFO.
😀 😀 😀
Right?
Ne huya!
Yes, “Vostok” and “Yamadaevtsi” is pretty clear 😛
Zapad/Vostok might be irregular units, but disobeying the GRU directorate isn’t something they are capable of.
Multiple sources reported Spetsnaz was brought to the area, it was reported by RENTV and RT, and lots of others.
An M4 and a T72 is not ‘well equipped’ when one is planning to engage the Russian Army.
A few weeks on officers courses does not make a unit well trained.
Poorly defined referring to their intended strategic objective, a couple of UAV’s does not constitute excellent intelligence.
The 58th Army consists of the most professional and combat experienced units in the Russian Army.
This is a bad joke right? They have Chechnya experience, but the oldest gear possible. Their units have T-72BM tanks at best (which are formidable weapons, mind you, with the mass upgrade). Not even a T-80U in sight AFAIK!
And you are right, the M4 is crap, they threw it away after day 1 from internet rumors supposedly by Georgian servicemen.
And hey, those Georgian T-72Bs were Israeli-upgraded!
This is unsubstantiated rhetoric at best. Unless you have e-v-i-d-e-n-c-e of spetsnaz and Co in Georgia, you dont have a case. Show photos – then we’ll talk.
😀 LOL, thanks for quoting terrorist propaganda. According to them 58th Army was destroyed along with Roki tunnel. Free advice: NEVER quote Kavkazcenter. Ever.
I dont know if you read Russian or not – but I sure as hell do.
“Заместитель начальника Генштаба Анатолий Ноговицын ранее опроверг информацию о том, что батальоны ГРУ “Восток” и “Запад” переброшены из Чечни в Южную Осетию”
Means that Nogovitsin denied that Zapad were transferred to S.Ossetia. He denied Voskot as well – but we have photos of them in S.O. and Georgia.
Once again – evidence or GTFO.
🙂
I’m not going to bother with more sources, it’s clear at least one unit was there. I didn’t read the second article, so my bad there, I would have assumed any translator / person translating could see that ‘oproverg’ means to deny from the compilation source I used. Yes, I do read Russian. Kavkaz center is pretty hilarious though, I do admit.
You have no evidence they were not there either, so, GTFO yourself.
http://en.rian.ru/photolents/20080819/116127733.html More vostok/zapad BS. How do you differentiate between the two units in terms of men themselves? It’s clear vostok was there, but zapad could have been. It makes no difference anyway. The VDV and Spetsnas WERE there.
They were neither poor nor ill trained for there geography.. they were just coward and incompetent. Now they have presented huge bill to there sponsors for rebuilding with there larger than life stories. It is the same failed project of West that led to Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
What are you trying to show with those sources star?
That the Russians contradicted their own deal? And yet didn’t hit the pipeline?
That was a real mystery to me.
Thanks Rodolfo , they do need Frigates/Destroyers with 7000 – 8000 T to replace the various types of ships in the inventory and move towards a multipurpose ship with standard tonage , electronic and weapon system suite.
Wonder why they dont arm their ships with LACM of KH-555 class or even the newest KH-102 types ?
Most of the surface ships today lack stand off land attack capability ( tomahawk type ) although they do have these types of missile in the Airforce inventory
The Strategic Bomber fleet can hit most positions of interest from Russian soil with the large cruise missiles, Navy-based ones are almost overkill. With the Yasen coming in, the Kh-101 should be in service with the Navy as well.
Absolutely no one was para-dropped into Tzkhinvali or anywhere else during that war. I wouldn’t be too surprised if Russian news reported such nonsense though. I’ve heard worse.
VDV units were airlifted to Sukhumi from Pskov. VDV did operate in Georgia, but I saw no evidence of them actually fighting. Thought, its possible that they did a little.
But as far as photo/video evidence of this conflict goes – no Spetsnaz, MVD, FSB or GRU units (except Vostok) can be placed in Georgia.
Btw Chechen “Zapad” battalion didnt fight either.
This is guess work at best. No one got there quicker than the Russian forces, so any kind of photo/video evidence is unlikely. People there (including military) in the first few days sure had better things to do that film.

Vostok & Zapad were both there.
Well, the polls have hardly be accurate in the past………Personally, I believe its neck and neck right now. With the polls showning the race closing as we speak. Really, I think it shows that Obama has his share of problems with the US Public in General. Because after 8 years of Bush……….any Democrat should be “KILLING” the Republican Candidate. Think about it………just shows the underling current against Obama.
No one expected a 2nd Bush term either, and then look what happened!

Have you seen any photos of Spetsnaz and GRU besides Chechen “Vostok” (that looked and was equipped worse than any 58th Army unit)?
I havent.
🙂
It was clearly reported in Russian news TV channels that the first units that were being deployed, as the event unfolded, were Spetsnaz and VDV divisions that were para-dropped into Tskhinvali.
Vostok/Zapad men were equipped with standard issue AK-74M rifles, – and RPG-7s which I found odd, but it may be that they are most used to the weapon. I wouldn’t want to ever find myself in mountainous terrain against those guys. I wonder how widespread the RPG-29 is currently.
On the GORSHKOV class
The Gorshkov should do well to replace both the Sovremenny and Udaloy with time. . . assuming they can fit better sensors on the vessels since it will be smaller. The armament though can’t even be compared now, smaller vessel, much bigger punch!
The Messiah® is further left than Jimmy Carter and we all know how it went for the military under him. In a nut-shell the military is f–ked. The only political entity with a lower approval rating than Bush (the Democrat-controlled congress) having the furthest left in the bunch at the helm? Watch them run wild with entitlement programs. My wallet is already feeling thinner. 😡
Yeah, time to wake up to reality and realize you can’t have your government rob other people and sovereign entities of their riches so you can profit. Quite funny how people will automatically hate a government that at least wants to show the foreign community some respect and dignity – something that the US lost completely in the last 8 years.
