If you are talking of the recent past then yes it has not taken the decision.. and adding to that list is one more precious item.. scorpene.. anyway.. we don’t know what stops/stopped them..
you will have to eat your words on this one 😀
in Pak case only the F-16 case took 15 years. in India every thing takes 15 years. MM singh simply cannot allow this amount of money in his tenure. so clearing will be left to next government by that time every thing will be obsolete.
To an extent yes it took a lot of time in near past, when the options and economy were not in favour by a good % ..
Mig-23/29 and Mirages came pretty fast.. after pak went for F-16’s…
Su-30 came pretty fast (relatively speaking) too..
OK guys.. a halt for a moment.. let us all go and take a look as to how IT 😉 will look on any of the airports when in service 😉
“IAF that requested US aircraft not the other way around” Were you having any other thoughts on this ?? I think that we all knew MOD had sent RFI to
1) Rosboronexport
2) Saab
3) Dassault
4) LM
and that too.. long before this offer/etc/etc kind of news came in circulation.. btw.. if you search through the news articles from the time when aeroindia was going on the LM representative had clearly mentioned that provided approval from the US Gov.. they would send there answer to the MOD for the RFI sent to them.. and btw all this F-16/18/Condi drama happenend after that..
btw.. NO RFI or RFP was ever sent to Boeing for MRCA by MOD…
bmused .. r u reading something else from my statement ..
I meant even the people who find the A-380 ugly will turn there heads in it’s direction if and when it will come to any airport.. it’s damn big to be un-noticed.. 🙂

Bull… 😮
That would be a sight on airports… an aircraft demanding attention whether someone likes it or not..

Ok.. I got what you are saying.. That was a better explanation.. 🙂
Austin.. if I am right.. Barak-1 is the existing Barak..
I want to add another point here. If the congress approves, PAF would be getting newer F-16s in about 3 years time, but the pilot training for the jets would start in 2005. With the exercises being conducted this year, PAF F-16 pilots would have enough time to learn about IAF tactics and Radar signature from USAF pilots and obviously IAF would understand F-16 but only those handled by USAF flyers.
PAF pilots have different style and tactics that IAF may not know or have little knowledge of which. So in the end it is more for IAF to know about A/C but there is even more to give, especially if the USAF trainers and pilots find themselves generous at letting the secrets out to the under-training PAF pilots, something IAF wouldn’t fancy.
You very easily forgot to factor in the Israeli Air Force and it’s co-operation with the Indian Air Force.. Indian Air Force already knows more about the various blocks of F-16 etc then we would think about or know.. Just a point.. Besides do you know that Israelis are a BIG contributors to the EW systems and it’s development with Indian Air Force … 🙂
Austin.. Agreed in principle of what you are saying now about IAF..
from your previous posts.. I was under the impression that you are talking of the RCS as such.. 🙂
Austin.. we are talking of the Radar Signatures not the Radar Cross Section.. 😉 .. finding out RCS is not a big deal.. but Radar Signatures.. well that’s one of the MOST important things in the modern battlefield…
