AIRCRAFT CARRIER INSPECTION RESULTS
During a week the inspection group of Indian naval forces worked on Sevmash.
The foreign partners were interested in the repair and reequipment process for the aircraft carrier of project 11430. This is a planned visit, according to the contract, the inspecting examinations are held quarterly. During this business trip, the inspectors visit the vessel, discuss the questions with the authorities of Sevmash. “Since our last visit we have found many changes, concerning the structures of the upper deck and inner accommodations”. – chief of production and ships purchases, vice-admiral of Indian naval forces B.S. Randava resumes. – “In such a difficult project like this the problems will always occur from time to time. But we see that Sevmash does his best to solve them”.
One of this problems for today is the terms of the contract implementation. It is known that now there is a slippage in comparison with the initial schedule. “It is caused by serious defects in some structures, revealed during the final inspection, and we have to correct these defects”, – Victor Shestov, Deputy Director General for military technical cooperation explained.
Mr. Randava said the official opinion of Indian naval forces concerning following the schedule: “We received the letter from the RF Minister of Defense, where it is written that the project would be finished in terms, specified in the contract”.
While the vessel is being repaired and reequipped, the place for its stationing ia being prepared in India – a new base on the west coast is being built, in the southern part of the country. All the necessary for stationing shall be prepared when the aircraft carrier arrives.

Even 29-K is a decent bird to be compared against.. and it has a higher potential of upgrade considering that it’s going to IN, which has started thinking about the strategic goals..

MK’s are not flying any more.. They have ALL returned by now.. or would soon be back to Russia..
I guess about 3-4 mths back they were lying at Lohegaon.. in a corner..
It would be excellent to see both co-ordinating and co-operating in the real time scenarios, I believe there is more in complementing each other with their capabilities that a face-off scenario.
A very generic place to look at..
Whether or not this aircraft is selected for MRCA .. I would say.. that Mig has really come a long way in terms of their aircraft capabilities.. with this.. 🙂
I donno how it helps.. But what about having side control stick incorporated too.. 🙂
Flex.. to be Honest.. Even I don’t like a lot in that cockpit.. but knowing a bit about the program.. I am happy that some in-house progress is being made on realising the systems..
But I just love JSF and Gripen’s cockpit.. purely from the aesthetic pov..
::Even the fit and finish in the cockpit is not upto the mark..
Are you here to understand the issues or just to finger..
What other posters say is irrelevant to me.. I have not compared LCA to any other aircraft..
Coming back to HUD.. the HUD that Gripen uses has been supplied by Rockwell Collins.. where as it has been developed in-house in India for the first time..
BTW.. Rockwell is in business since 1933.. JFYI..
And about the Gripen and LCA programs..
Saab already had the infrastructure and technologies at hand to take up the new aircraft design and development from scratch..
BUT it was not the case with HAL/ADA..
The LCA PROGRAM was started in 1983 ..
ADA, which was to develop the aircraft was established in 1984.. (With no infrastructure
IAF’s ASR’s were not ready till 1985
Program Design started in 87 and went up till 88
Design was finalised in 1990
Because of the financial crunch of the 89-90.. Funding came only in 1993.. for the FSED..
Above are some important pointers to this program.. compiled from a couple of places.. Found a good site.. if you are really interested in learning..
Maskirovka
The HUD has been manufactured by an Indian Laboratory. This is their first attempt to it, hence going with some tried designs. I believe there future products would be more in line with the recent trends.. 🙂
Outstanding album on Tejas.. also has LSP and Trainer pics..

Forgot to mention.. the credit for the Album goes to our very own Harry..
How good is this System?
-35 appears to have improved a LOT on the sensor system.. but what about the weapons/missiles etc.. US jets have big advantage over here..
The upgraded Il-76 of IAF..
