IIRC PAAMS was developed from the CMS of the T23’s?
MicaVL gives an upgrade path to CAMM in the future
Regarding Hyuga, you could probably just rip the whole original system out and replace it with the systems from the T23B2, just means you need more wiring since its a bigger ship.

How long would it take the Atomic Weapons Establishment to build new tactical warheads for either Stormshadow or Free Fall bombs from Stored components though? I’m guessing weeks, months maximum.

Meko 200? I’d suggest Modernised T23 (Aster 15, Mico VL or CAMM) or FREMM instead, RAN is apparrently having topweight issues trying to upgrade the ANZAC’s. There isnt enough topweight margin to fit the second 8 cell VLS or even to fit a phalanx.

You seem to have forgotten about Fixed Wing Maritime patrol aircraft. I would definitely put down at least four to six P8s and several on the lower end.

But they belong to the airforce. 😉

Stan, how did your LHD’s get 200 million cheaper over the space of about 5 hours? 😉

How about switching the F100’s for fully kitted out T45’s? That would give you a common Anti-Air missile for both the AA combatant and GP combatant, as the Formidable’s have Aster as their SAM.

You have also only used 14.5 Billion, less then half the specified procurement budget.

Well whatever you may think about it the military disagree as they have GMLRS out in Afghan at the moment. They think it is usefull and needed.

They also have a squadron of Tornado GR.4’s so they obviously think they are useful and needed.

I think C3 should have the option of containerised VLS CAMM I think this would make a lot of sense because you could say have enough containers for a third of the fleet and only put the system on the ships that need it for their tasking. I hope the ships are getting artisan 3D radar which more than capable enough. Then in times of war you could post C3 in the littorals as a fire support ship, MCM and deployment of special forces.

How about just making sure there is enough room for the Land Based version to be bolted down somewhere? I’m assuming it will be a mobile system like Rapier, so you just need a place to tie some trailers down, hopefully you can tie the missiles into the ships CMS though. 😛

What outstanding orders are left on for the Merlin? As for how long to deliver 50 airframes? I’d guess a year or two, three max. Meanwhile you run the Sea King and Puma fleets into the ground on operations.

Brown made an interesting claim there – that the UK has more helicopters than Canada, Australia and the Netherlands deployed to Afghanistan.

Is this true  I have no idea how many helos these nations have in theatre.

Fairly sure we (Australia) only have 2 or 3 Chinooks deployed because our Blackhawks don’t have the hot and high performance and our Tigers are still working up. But then again, we have 1/8th the number of troops in the country that the UK does.

The Netherlands has 1,800 troops with 6 Apache, 6 Chinook and 6 F16.

    Canada has 2,800 troops with 8 Griffons, 6 Chinooks and 3 C130’s

    Total: ~5,600 troops

Since the UK force is larger then those three forces combined, i definately hope they have a larger force of helicopters in country then Australia, Canada and the Netherlands do.

Indian Army was the single largest volunteer force of over 2 million,so give respect rather than reminding how tiny the Irish volunteer force was.

    3 Million actually I believe.

If the Blackhawk is so good, why would we (Australia) be replacement them with NH-90’s, the first of around 46 has already been delivered.

We will probably see an NFH-90 order soon to replace our Sea Hawks (i hope so anyway, since the other option is MH-60R).

    Hows Russias AWACS fleet doing?

More relevent would be, hows the PRC’s AWACS fleet doing and how does it compare with wedgetail (about which pretty much everything is classified).

I’d put Australia’s fleet of F/A18A+ and F-18F’s chances against chinese Su’s this far from home as very good. The chinese can’t get this far without major refueling assets, which they don’t have. They would need Indonesian or Malaysian bases, which they wont get.

    See a trend here?

During a conflict with China Australian fighters might forward deploy to Buttersworth in Malaysia i guess.

Well yes I suppose! But I meant the shot showed a CVF with two darings, an astute and a Wave AOR. It was a being built/just built by BAE only task force!

They probably don’t have CGI models of the other ship classes, not worth it to make them for one video when they can get away with what they already have.
