I do not have one myself, but I do know of many people I know that have it and I have had a spin on it. Very clever design and construction and I believe the pros outweigh the cons. Apple has done a very fine job with this unit and it is the best product in this market area. Yes, there are problems, like the battery, but it is nearlly impossible to find a product without flaws. Usually the stories you hear are from people who have had problems with it and are just miffed about it. The best thing to do, when buying electronics, is make your own decision based on information you collect and interpret for yourself. If you do not want too much risk you can buy and iPod mini, around $249 and it stores about 70 hours of music. Hope this helps-

My mistake greekdude, thanks. But I am still under the impression that the 380 flight will be routed through HKG if it is heading for the west coast. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Well, if they fly them to the U.S. West Coast, they’ll have to make a fuel stop. I don’t think the A380 has A345 type range, does it?

Sorry, forgot to include that it would stop in HKG, like the current 747 (and 777?) flights.

SQ will be the launch customer for the A380 in 2006. So, the first route may be to LHR(maybe onto JFK), HKG, NRT, SYD, or even SFO? Any speculation or ideas?

All very good points. I must say that in order to creat this new aircraft the wings will have to redesigned, making them lighter and smaller. Then, as has been mentioned, extra tanks and maybe other typical longhaul features can be removed or decreased in size and weight. But, even with this can it meet the expected 7E7 performance. And what about possible engines?

    Looking forward to further discussion-

No chance in hell for dial-up users to view these monstrocities. I can’t believe how big these files are.

I was wondering why this thing has been removed from the hangar, prior to being nowhere near complete. This thing is still missing quite a few essential itmes. Is Airbus just showing off a little prematurely?

On the second page of this thread you can see a rear view of the 380 in the static test hangar(only based on the assumption that the iron bird structure, atleast thats what I see, is only located in this building, which is located slightly north-east of the main assembly structure, I think the missing parts are not required for the first few test that will be conducted, then when the parts arrive or are nedded they will be put on and testing will continue.
I dont think Airbus is showing off, from the looks of it they were keeping it lowkey, it being night and all.

    Hope this helps-

When in Amsterdam, I choose to partake in 2 of the 3 aforementioned activities. 😀

Damn you Allen! You commented on the giant six pack before I! I do approve how Graham subtlely got those Heinekens in there along with the Schiphol Airport sign.

Back to aviation, I took the ‘tour’ with Peter when I was in AMS last year, Graham. the only place I didn’t get taken to is that bridge over the canal near the new runway. Any idea where that is in the overhead shot you showed?

To my best knowledge the location of that bridge is right along the taxiway to the new runway, as you said.

This happened to me at LHR last summer on an Air Canada 333. We were on approach to the northern runway, heading west, and were nearly there when full thrust was applied and we banked right while climbing. Of course, a minute later the pilot comes on and told us it was an aircraft that did not vacate the runway in time that caused the go around. Not exactly the same situation but close.

Per a previous post, I had proposed a meet at AMS. I’ll be there from July 22nd until the 24th. The 23rd would be ideal.

I would love to have the opportunity to visit to AMS. If I could, I would be there in a heart beat. It is probably the best airport for spotting in the world. I dream of an airport like that. Hope you take lots of pics.
