In my town this weekend we have a airshow going on and the OZZIES have sent a Caribou on display, for a plane that has seen a lot of use and is very old she is absolutly mint and a real credit to the maintainers.
I dont understand when people bleat on about why OZ buys American gear or in this case a plane that has been ordered by America?….its so simple,America is a close and trusted ally and can be depended on in times of trouble and because of Americas trust in Australia,Australia is getting a free-trade agreement unlike my country who let down a trusted ally and now we only get scraps,Mates look after mates and this is exactly what OZ and the U.S practice

I doubt Israel will be granted an export clearance for the Raptor, in light of the recent back-and-forth with the US over Israeli arms assistance to the PRC. In that light, I hope they never see one, save at an airshow.

I do understand what you are saying and I do find it odd that a country that is so close to the USA would assist the Chinese,Why? is it just purely for the Dollars?
I still do think Israel will get the F-22 even if its purely a symbol of might in a region that is racing ahead in the arms race,

For cost reasons Israel will stick to the F-35.

Dont agree with you at all mate,Israel will and needs to maintain an edge over all countries in her region and the Raptor offers that, got to remember that while Israels population is somewhere in the region of 6 or so million there are a lot of Jews right around the world that contribute to the Jewish economy, while the Raptor costs an arm and a leg it is only a matter of time before we see the F-22 with the star of david roundal,
The F-35 will be the mainstay of the IDF there will be a place for the Raptor but in limited numbers maybe.
With the Saudis taking on board the Typhoon,Iran going hard tack for Nuke weapons and trying very hard to create a high tech military Israel needs a premier fighter like the Raptor,I hope it happens

ummmm. No. no one that dumb this side of the pond. The RAAF isnt going anywhere.
Infact, Ive even heard rumours labour might shoot for the raptor if they can the JSF.

Yea no political party is as stupid as the NZ labour party!
Imagine OZ pilots with the Raptor! that would be a powerful force in the region

    Nice pics mate.

The pig is showing its age now. we need to get rid of em asap. Farting fuel and lighting it up just doesnt do it for me anymore u see :p

And replacing them with JSF isnt going to do the job. labour’s spot on when they say we need to relook at the whole contract.

If the OZ labour party is any thing like the Kiwi Labour party then the “we need to look at the whole contract bull crap” is short for…..”we really want to cancel the whole contract and rape and pilage tha RAAF because the world is a beautiful pretty peaceful place and the UN will protect us!
Long live the pig and proceed with the JSF at any cost!!

Got a problem, rookie? You need far more than 20 posts here to tell somebody to shut up.

BTW, an average Cuban cares about three things: booze, cigars and lots of women. It is obvious that you never been there and you have no idea what you are talking about. I found out that politically ignorant Cubans, despite of rather poor economic conditions, are one bunch of happy people. No problems, no hurry, no stress, every day like a holiday. The last thing they want is a fat white investor from over yonder to privatize their beeches, make their current style of life economically unbearable and to force them to work 12-15 hours a day. As strange as it may sound, there is also much there to envy.

Who are you mate to call someone rookie? It doesnt matter if you have 1 post or 1000 posts we all have the right to say our bit

Def something to look forward too next year, doubt that any American pilot is going to want to be beaten on home turf!
Only my personal opinion but of all the up and coming forces in the world at the moment (China etc) I reckon India is really stepping up to the plate and will be a force to be reckoned with,I personally think that America should get India on side as a counter balance to China
