I am assuming that the authority presiding over this planning matter is part of a democratically elected local authority which represents the wishes of the majority living there. Should the local population have a change of heart then they can change their local authority at the ballot box. Thats how it goes MoL. That being so then MoL is free to turn his back on the still significant business potential in Belfast, and NI as a whole, and walk away. There will doubtless be other carriers happy to capitalise on that potential and move in.

    Impressive.

I can’t see the final version being free, though…….. unless it’s full of adverts.

    Agreed.

Nice old selection. These were the days … when you could actually SEE planes from a comfortable place without having to brave the elements. It was all a great laugh back then and you would always meet up with everyone down the airport.

IF62M… where were you based with EC ? They used to be my transport from Glasgow to Luton back in these days when they were doing the Datapost flights. Many a wee trip “down south” started with a night flight to Luton (then as it was late on, a few in the Luton Flying Club social club where there was always something happening on a Friday night).

    Happy Days.

I was initially based at Luton following a short training and induction thing in ABZ. I was then transferred to STN for the setting up of the Datapost operation there but still had to cover LTN for a spell until a replacement was found. As for the Flying Club……….lets not go there……aw alright then…..I’ll have another Happy Day if thats ok:)

Quoted by Mr. Creosote ” What is so clever about taking a gun and killing a dumb, defenceless animal? And before anyone calls it “sport” name me any other sport so ludicrously one-sided.

Two very good questions. I’ve always fancied the idea of setting a pack of hounds on fox hunters, but then again that would make me no better than the hunters themselves and would probably result in me being accused of engaging in class warfare. This is a very sad story but then thats us humans for ‘ya…a laugh a minute………and now over to the whales for their take on the marine mammal conservation policies of Japan!

    1. The Invaders saucer

    2. Jupiter 2

    3. UFO saucer from the Anderson series

    4. Martian War Machine from the George Pal War of the Worlds movie

    5. Klingon Battle Cruiser. Original design and ST movie type

    6. Romulan Bird of Prey. Next Gen design.

    7. Fireflash

I really loved The Invaders shows, IMO that saucer was one of the most intimidating designs of them all. I have 2 unmade kits of it and one built up. Jupiter 2 is an icon and the Anderson UFOs are a masterpiece of engineering, IMO that is.

Amazing! I worked for Air Ecosse from 1980 to 83 and then from 83 for Monarch. This is one of the few times I have seen a pic of an Air Ecosse ‘Bandit’
Thanks very much for posting it:)

I often see one of these ‘contrailing’ over my place. A nice easy livery to identify:)

Very nice shot. I’m a fan of the Falcons but you’ve got to go some to beat the Gulfstreams….IMO that is;)
