Nice pics. I used to work handling Sterling at STN for most of the 80s seeing their Caravelle 10Bs, B727-200s and DC8-63s, Sterling in its original guise never flew its own scheduled services, it did however operate regular charter services to the USA from CPH via KEF and BGR (sometimes Gander) in the 1970s with Caravelles!

Geeez folks! Thanks very much for all the good wishes. Sorry to have taken so long to reply but at my new age things take that little bit longer! Have been away from PC for a day or two…oh yes and there was the little matter of a hangover!!! Had a great Birthday that yielded some great gifts…

2x Interflug DVDs covering the final flights by A310s to Havana and Hanoi.

A great book covering the history of Finnair, had been looking for this for
    10 years.

The book OKB Ilyushin, a must for fans of Soviet/Russian airliners

1x DVD featuring the Gabon Express Caravelle operation (Thanks Mum!)

And last but by no means least, a beautiful 1/100 display model of a Boeing 707 in the early 60s livery of Lufthansa.

So all in all a good haul!! with lotsa food and drink!

Albert, Thanks for that information. I had no idea that Colin had gone…very sad news. I have all of his titles in my collection and I shall miss his books in future. He served me once on a stall at Mildenhall air show (with one of his titles of course!). Sincere condolences to his family and friends. Colin was taking photos and writing books of Soviet airliners well before most gave them a second look. Fans of those marvellous machines like myself would have very little to look back on had it not been for Colins bravery, some would say foolishness, behind the “Iron Curtain” in years gone by. Thank You Colin and rest in peace.

Brilliant shots….Brings back loads of memories of my early career as a Traffic Officer with Servisair, none of the other T/Os ever wanted to ramp these types so it was usually down to me on our shift…would’nt have missed any of them!

I understand that the Airbus “Beluga” transport aircraft has visited Boeing on more than one occasion. I’m glad to hear of any co-operation between these two. It can only be good for the industry.
