At pistonrob: Thanks for the reply, now that I’m home and have scoured the internet and got the opinion of many of you, I think that’s exactly what Im going to do. I do agree with your comments entirely, thanks again :).

At Lincoln 7: Hi Jim, thanks for the supportive words!! Yes, I basically think I’m going to end up paying it now unfortunately. It is “technically” justified but it seems ridiculous that I would get one and someone 20m away wouldn’t, not to mention anyone elses car who ticket that may of been up as well.

As was said before they usually seem to sod off home around 5pm now, especially as it’s basically dark by this time, I figured I’d be fine and they wouldn’t be walking around with a torch or something. I think I’ve just been very unlucky, he remembered looking at my car and some point and I was his last catch of the day….

As people have pointed out, I don’t think the tax disc number holds anything. The details on the ticket – make/colour/registration/tax disc expiry date, make it the correct vehicle.

Also, if I did try and swindle them and say I had a ticket that expired at 16:53 and got away with it, great!! However if they had evidence, it would make me look foolish and I suspect their rule of “generally” extending the period for the cheaper price may be thrown out the window because I tried to pull a fast one.

I wouldn’t wanna lose out and end up paying £50, it’s a crappy 50/50 situation and even saving £25 doesn’t seem to be worth the risk :(. Thanks again for your reply Jim.

Yeah, it certainly is one of the cheapest parking fines I think you can get. I suspect most people are going to say “just pay it, sh*t happens”, its just not what you need at the end of a working day after putting £3 in the parking machine already!

    Thanks for the input :).

It certainly seems that way Moggy, after paying for a new car insurance policy this month, the generally high price of fuel and now this! It never ends, although the second one may well make me look like a dork, I’m not so sure about the tax disc point. I’ve had tickets from them in the past and it has included the tax disc number. Not this time though? Thank you for the input :).

Hey, thanks for the quick replies. The fine is £50, or £25 if paid within 14 days 🙂 and it was issued by Waverley Borough Council, John..

A few days ago I went to Tesco in Amesbury and somebody had left 7 items from their trolley on the end of a check out after obviously deciding they no longer wished to buy them. The items I tend to find put back on to shelves in the wrong place is usually sweets or kids toys, thus setting a very bad example to the child that had picked up or was due to have the toy. 😡

Working in a supermarket (Waitrose) I find this habit people have extremely irratating. I find at least 5+ items a day and this includes many that are supposed to be chilled but have been ‘dumped’ in the freezer when they’ve found a cheaper alternative. The most interesting recently being a tub of custard in their the other day, more so annoying when the freezer is just a few steps from where they originally removed it.

Obviously this means the product usually has to be thrown out, the irony is these people probably act like they really care about food waste etc but in the end the company has to pay for it as it cannot be sold.

I’ve yet to catch anyone in the act yet, maybe calling them a lazy f**cker will make them think about it more…:diablo:

The fact that the ‘What made you (want to) Swear Today? Part 2‘ thread is 2 pages longer than this one, oh the joys of modern life eh? 😀

These guys seem like a good outfit, although which ones do I go for!? Might give them a ring in the morning. My only worry is fitting them and me somehow screwing it up :D.
