I think the Star Alliance scheme can look good on some aicraft and with a little extra colour for variety as displayed on this Lauda Air B763 that visited BHX recently, of all the B763s to get i get to take pics of this one 😀

Sorry about quality, the pics do show it can look good on occasions but that MD-11 looks terrible…..

I don’t think I’ve met a pilot who likes that paint scheme yet. Blah, I’m glad to hear that someday it will only be a memory.

As for Peter Max, he’s an artist who became popular in the 1960’s with his “Cosmic” art style. How he was chosen to repaint a 777 for Continental is beyond me.

LOL! 😀 , only a bit of fun isnt it, CO just went a little crazy for the millenium and got some guy to paint a B777 in any way he likes………..sort of like the BA World Tails, i agree though it cant stay on forever because it would look outdated but for the time it’s been on it was something that stood out. 🙂 😀

The CO MAN-EWR service started out with a 752 in the mid-90s, then got upgraded to a DC10. You’re probably a bit too young to remember 😉

CO used to send DC-10s into BHX, there are a few pics on A.net etc, i dunno whether they tried this as a upgrade or whether it was pulled because of the retirment of the DC-10s, bad pax loads but as you can see BHX is more populer now with two 752s a day….and who knows maybe in the future it will get upgraded but CO seems to be happy with the way its goin now.

I thought it was because the area is very well known for tropical storms and bad weather that causes ships to sink and planes to crash, legends and made up stories have been circulated making it look as if wreckage/no trace was ever found etc but in a lot of cases it was and the cause was determined…..
I also think the triangle sits on a ocean trench, large amounts of gases are released to the surface causing vacumm like effects and very unstable waters that cant support a ship, the unpredictable weather pattern can include water-spouts and sudden storms which can equal trouble for ships and aircraft.
