The only airliner I think you will find that did not fly into Cosford was the Comet.
The Vullcan flew in and so did most of the other big aircraft, however the health and saftey regulations were not around then as they are now.
A lot of natural lighting will get in I am told, the ends come off so no problem getting the York, Hastings, Belfast, Dakota ect in there.
I have been lucky to have seen it going up in stages as I tend to pay the Museum a visit most Sundays as I only live 10 miles down the road. I was not sure about it at first but it has grown on me.
Glad someone else agrees with me about the building.
The Argosy is on the Airfield between the Hangars so the only time you will get pictures is at the airshow on 11th June.
I have been told the Valiant should be still outside Rlangham.
As regarding the need to preserve the Britania only the RAFM can answer that personly I am not sure they do, as for it going inside I do not think there is any chance of that.
You have made your views clear often enough on the RAFM try however on your next visit talking to so of the staff and maybe get an insight into what is going on instead of just assuming you never know you might learn somthing.
I like you have one or to projects that require my full time attention, so for now we will continue agreeing to disagree.
The Britannia Belongs to the RAFM the Trident belonged to BA, as for taking a serious look I have and full well Know the conditionof it.
I would imagine like any other job it has to wait its turn for restoration work to be done, I know for a fact all the staff a volunteers are working flat out on other projects at the moment.
Perhaps you should go along and give them some help.
I know the Britannia requires a lot of work, As for my hobby you could not be further from the truth a lot of hard work is going on at Cosford both by the full time staff and the volunteers which you would see if you visited on regular basis as I do so to say they are neglecting aircraft is a misplaced staement.
By the way I am not the one defending BA you are
Or just possible down to health and saftey reasons David, or is this just another dig at the RAFM which seems to be your hobby.
I think you are right ROBO68 that was the impression I got on Sunday, the Valiant was moved last Tuesday.
Belfast & Hastings are both going inside the cold war building I can confirm MrB.175, I have been told this by a reliable source.
I did not like the building when I saw the model however now it is up it has grown on me the more I see it, also the best time to judge is when it is completed and open.
I take it you mean the Cold War building, it must be getting quite full now. I will try and go in on Sunday & take a look.
Close call but has to be the Vulcan for me.
