I agree with everything you have said Bruce I think you sum it up perfectly. I will only add that lots of people volunteer for Aircraft preservation but only a hand full stick with it.

Regarding the F111 I understand it was a gift to the RAFM. Roger not sure where you got your information about BA giving RAFM £20k never heard that one before or is it just a rumour as I am a regular visitor and have some long conversations with the staff.
James the Balliol is still there it is on display in Hangar 3.

Victor & Vulcan at Cosford were in a very bad state and were past saving. By the way I dont need to close my eyes and imagine I live close to Cosford and see what is going on not living the other end of the country and read about it and pass judgement.

So why state that it is just a the RAFM dealing with the company and not include BA, for some unknown reason reading your posts I get the impression you like to stick the knife into the RAFMfor the slightest reason

I think the best time to judge the new building is when it is completed personaly it has grown on me although I tend to see it most weeks.
Were they working on the airliners today as I am going in to the Museum tomorrow

Yes David I know the history of the Museum the Vickers Viscount was the first to arrive on 17/04/78 although it is sad about the demise of the BA collection I was more saddened about the aircraft that moved out of Cosford and down to Hendon over the last 2 years.
The bottom line to all this is BA pulled the plug over 4 years ago as far as money and manpower and the RAFM has neither the money or manpower to look after them so what do you do just let them rot away.
I guss the RAFM was possible waiting for BA to come back and it never happened.
