Good to see some of my MK 1 Anson R9935 nose project has flown , Bill bought my nose project off me quite a few years ago to use parts of it for his.

Well done to Bill and team.

    seat

Hi Mark , nice find Wapiti bits have a WA prefix , having a look in my wapiti file no clear pic of seat yet , but there were 2 types fitted one adjustable in flight and an earlier one that was ground adjusted only.

From various pics of hind cockpits doesnt look like hawker but i could be wrong cannot find my bulldog book to look for pic / cutaway drawing will keep looking.

The seat looks very deep in the pan , would be made for a specific purpose , maybe a gunners seat would not a seat of this design restrict a pilots movement of controls.

Could not aggree more it is high time we had this even if a small fee had to be paid , time for KP to realise for 99% of us here the days of having a add in any mag/newpaper etc are over , it is all internet based . Not everyone can get to a ‘ jumble ‘ to buy/sell .

With a buy/sell page here i bet that on site traffic would go up which prehaps KP could sell adverts on like on the forum pages , it would help big and small projects to be completed and deprive a nameless auction site more than there fair share of fees , a win/win outcome.

    P40 ID

Hi all , just a quick question , on the P40s there is a data plate on each main u/c leg which carries the a/c serial no. and same on the tail wheel oleo strut , i can confirm this as these parts i have had in the past have carried the a/c serial no. stamped on them .

I had the tail wheel oleo strut from A29 113 that now sits the the Aust. War Memorial , the strut had the USAAF serial stamped into it , i recovered it and other parts from its first post war owner who purchased the P40 from RAAF Laverton as scrap.

Would this A/C carry these data plates or was it a direct purchase before lend lease , if it were a direct purchase would these plates at least carry a construction number or a RAF serial?

As the tail wheel is extended should be easy to check.

    cheers dave
