Here’s one of me and a Yak I flew a few times from Gransden. I’m now based at Sarfend.

… And the German pilot who bombed North Weald at low level is very welcome to make a return visit.

At least he didn’t manage to close it like some politicians and councillors would like to do!

Brilliant series all round, with a very emotional ending. More please.

I believe it is also the case that you have to have permission from the relevant government for non-UK schemes, usually arranged through the air attache. The French seem to insist on displaying the registration (even if it quite small).

I fly a Bulldog, which we have tried to have permission to fly it to France. This has been refused unless we have temporary G-registration letters applied.

We are hoping to take it to Schaffen Diest this year for the Old Timers Fly-in. Perhaps the Belgians will be a bit more accommodating?

Congratulations on getting your QXC. It’s at this stage that you feel you’re really getting the hang of things. Now a bit more revision and you’ll soon be taking your Skills Test.

The weather has certainly been superb and hopefully we’ll have a good few weeks so you can finish things off without any great delays. I know several people who had weeks of false starts for their QXC because of the weather.

My QXC was Stapleford – Southend – Norwich, and I remember getting back and feeling absolutely shattered from the concentration.

Yesterday I went to Le Touquet to celebrate the 100th Anniversary. That will be another big step for you – your first continental flight. I could see the white cliffs as I crossed the French coast, which must have been 40+ miles, so navigation was easy.

    Good luck for the future…

It has been based at Yeovilton to allow the RNHF pilots to get tailwheel training. Tim Manna was a US Navy pilot, hence the ‘loan’.

I believe it was Squadron Leader Paul Day, who had just finished his tour as O/C BBMF. Nice that he has still got a Spitfire to fly on his days off!

No problem. Glad you liked them!

Here’s one of the Bayliss Spitfire Tr9 at East Kirkby on Saturday. What a cracking display that was!
