Can anyone confirm what the original RAF finish would of been, ie. gloss, semi-gloss, satin etc etc

The drawing also calls up a clearcoat lacquer to be applied all over except on the anti-dazzle panel would this of been a gloss lacquer? I have the drawing here but I don’t have a reference for the DTD or AM specs.

    DTD751 anyone?

Drawing calls up a clearcoat lacquer as well, is this a gloss finish lacquer?

    Thanks all

Thanks very much for your help all, the photos are most appreciated and should provide a good foundation for our proposed paint scheme. Keep an eye on our website and you’ll see our machine all painted up soon(ish) 😉

    Spitfirebuilder,

I suggested the RNethAF scheme to the owner and also supplied him with a number of images of the variations and possibilities.

Well with a little more digging around someone here has seen some pictures of Dutch two seaters but they are not good enough quality for us to use as guides for the paintscheme on our machine.

@ Roger, check your PM’s please.

    Thanks for your help all.

@ Mark12, i have seen your name a few times around these forums and i guessed i knew you then, though I still haven’t figured out exactly who you are ;). Anyways theres some confusion over those alleged photos one of our people says the owner has those photographs, yet the owner has told me that he does not have those photographs, i am inclined to beleive him as its his aircraft and he wants us to paint it. Perhaps if you know where those photos came from or who supplied them you could share that info. with me and i will go chase them down again.

@ BennoT6 i beleive we have had dealings with you before, with regard to our Harvard, small world a? Would be a nice flight over to the Netherlands not sure if we’d have the range to do it on one tank, never mind we’ll have to take the scenic route 😉 😉 Dont suppose you have pictures of those schemes do you, the overall silver scheme sounds very interesting. You can find all of the information on our spitfire in the ‘current restorations’ section of our webiste which is at the address below

    Thanks again all
