It was stamped Merlin III. I am 99.9% sure it was Hurricane. The taper in added by thin parts of wood (secondarf aerodynamic structure). I have one from a Gladiator which will be fitted to my Hurricane (one day). The differences are suitably small (unless one reads the plate). if there is interest, I could photo my plate?

Merlin Mark II isn’t it?

Hi,

if this is the red/white/blue diamond pattern Pup there are photos and colour interpretations of her in the Windsock datafile from Albatross, and in the gorgeous Air Britain book on the Pup

RAF Honiley, south west of Coventry, was the Girling test track, and is now used by Prodrive.

There was an aero engine test cell there as well, which was a great place for a young Lucas Aerospace student apprentice to disappear to years ago…
