the Rafale has a cost of 39,000 euros per flight hour (costs 2006, prior to use new M88-4E). He was, according to the Ministry of Defence, decrease to 10,000 euros per flight hour for the Rafale C and B, and 7,000 euros for the Rafale M in 2012.

DavidSubishi :

So that’s two older and less advanced and less capable jets that cost more per flight hour than the F-35

Stop rating a plane who doesn ‘t exist yet on the operational level .

Cheers .

But it only goes as high as 30.000ft .

@ EE , for the sake of it , I forget the “monkey” thing .

PLA-MKII :

I think that for instance, the EF-2000 and Rafale have excellent high altitude, high speed instantaneous turn rates due to their inherent aerodynamics and high instability.

ITR at high altitude/high speed is not as important as STR (sustained turn rate) .
At high altitude/high speed , the Typhhon has a better STR than the Rafale mainly due to its excess power .

I don ‘t think I have the exact numbers for a given high speed/altitude . I have them for low altitude where the Rafale better the Typhoon .
The Typhoon shines high and fast .

Cheers .

Typhoon is using ’80s Dassault technology there for a “Souped-Up” Mirage

Affirmatif . Typhoon ‘s airframe/aerodynamics have problems that have been solved by Dassault in the 80s .
Exemple :

None of the late french delta fighters show this kind of bad behavior . Sorry to say …

@ OPIT :

I wasn ‘t lying , I only stupidly copy/pasted a mistake . I phoned a friend (ex M2000-5 driver) , I showed him the video and his response is the following : “Fox2” at 0:48 , gun kill at 02:34 (could be a near miss) . Nothing else .

Really ?
So you know the Rafale ‘s HUD symbology better than some experts on Air-Defense , including some AdlA personals ?
Man , you ‘re good …

bring_it_on :

These points only echo the views regarding WVR combat in the years to come, with things like IRST, HOBS/HMD,Spectra/DAS like systems…the chances of one fighter having a very significant advantage over many engagements is going to very hard in real war like scenarios…In a strict WVR engagements between F-16’s and F-22’s , it would be hard for the Raptor to achieve a very significant edge in kill ratio over multiple engagements and both fighters would be risking mutual kills …

Yes I agree .
Just one thing , at the moment the F-22 drivers don ‘t have Helmet Mounted Sight and since it carries sidewinders internaly , the F-22 is at great disadvantage in dogfight . Is it going to enter the fight with the sidewinders bays open and the missiles showing to try to archive LOBL ? In this case , is it going to fly as good as with closed bays ? Then , I am affraid the missiles IR heads will not have a very good view of the outside world .
What do you think ?

Cheers .

Opit :

There’s only one (disputable) simulated Fox-2 shot and no gun kill.

There are 3 IR Mica lock : at 00:51 , 02:05 and 02:33 . Gun kill from 02:34 to 02:36 .
The HUD symbology doesn ‘t lie .

High resolution video of the Rafale vs F-22 dogfight :

http://vimeo.com/36239699

The HUD symbology is much clearer and shows a lot .
In fact , there are 3 “Fox-2” (IR Mica lock) , 2 being simulated shots . Gun kill in the end .

Cheers .

No one here is disputing the fact that the F-22 is a wonderful bird , but can we please stop this Rafale vs F-22 contest ?

Cheers .
