DRFM falls apart against a network radars with overlapping coverage. The target is discovered by comparing the patterns of false images.

True , but who has this overlapping coverage capability over his whole territory ? One can always find corridors where radar coverage is not optimal .
    As a reminder :

A DRFM system is designed to digitize an incoming RF input signal at a frequency and bandwidth necessary to adequately represent the signal, then reconstruct that RF signal when required. The most significant aspect of DRFM is that as a digital “duplicate” of the received signal, it is coherent with the source of the received signal. As opposed to analog ‘memory loops’, there is no signal degradation caused by continuously cycling the energy through a front-end amplifier which allows for greater range errors for reactive jamming and allows for predictive jamming.A DRFM may modify the signal prior to retransmitting which can alter the signature of the false target adjusting its apparent radar cross section, range, velocity, and angle. DRFMs present a significant obstacle for radar sensors.

What makes Spectra less advanced than EWS39?

It is actualy the other way around .

    AAM-4B

Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ . I knew that I read that some times ago .

    Belethor :

So, so far we’ve seen Big Blue came in all guns firing in the Rafale but he was swiftly forced to retreat after a couple of heavy weight posters launched their own electronic offensives that seemingly nullified the French ECM superiority.

?? How you came to this conclusion is a … mystery .

But what about the F-35 in all this? We never did figure out if it’d be a more effective low level striker than the Rafale, Tornado or F-15.

The F-35 ‘s main way to penetrate an adverse airspace is not to fly on the deck but to fly high and fast and if possible , without external stores to preserve its Low Obvervability . Its airframe and engine are made for .
At low level where the air density is maximum , it might be draggy which would further decrease its range . If you add external fuel tanks , its RCS suffers . Nobody knows how the aircraft will fare at low level , moreover with external stores , not even LM , yet .

Thats technically two countries, actually. And even one of those hasn’t fully committed itself yet. Seven countries have committed themselves to Typhoon and a whole lot more have done so with the F-35. So what of it…

Can ‘t you read english ? I NEVER talked about who is buying the Dassault fighter but about who believes that it is the best multirole today . A single aircraft who can do pretty much everything , and carrier capable .

    Cheers .

NATO should be disbanded at once. Europe should create it’s own defence treaty, europeans are more than able to defend themselves. An european defence treaty means a new life for the european defence industry too, stimulating the high-tech developement and creating countless jobs and large amount of revenue. Enough with these corrupt governments selling their countries and their country’s independence to the despicable american interests! What in the name of god should we do in Asia, being dragged (or more like forced) by the americans in a war against China, like many delusional individuals in the leadership (not to mention their brainwashed society) of the US dream ?! Are you serious? What did China do to us ?!

While it is said in a rather harsh manner , I tend to agree with you mack8 .
But I have to say that with B. Obama , things are a whole deal better than with previous POTUS and US GoVs .

    your “God Like” Rafale

This kind of talk is garbage . When it entered service , the F-15 Eagle was also the best of its kind . The FW-190 also was (probably;)) , etc …

if I wanted a squadron of A/A aeroplanes I’d go for Typhoon

    Good choice .

    A/G/Recce I’d go for Tornado

That would be my second choice .

if I wanted an aeroplane with a very wide range of multi-role abilities I’d most probably go with a US type, likely F-15Es

That would also be my second choice .

    Cheers .

Sure, you’re the only one alright because its only you that believes this…

I know at least 4 Countries who truely believe this : France , India , the UAE and Switzerland . And I could probably add South Korea , Singapore and Brazil if not Qatar and a couple of others who ‘d like to have it too .
    Maybe the UK ? :D;)

    EE :

And as a Frenchie you think nothing comes close to Rafale…

No . As a European , I say that the Eurocanards are the most advanced military aircrafts today . I also say that the Dassault Rafale is indeed the best multirole today and I am far to be the only one to think this way .

    Mercurius :

There has been at least one upgrade since 2000. The ALQ-131 mid-life update programme dates back to 2004. This included an upgraded transmitter chain (including added power steering capabilities) and new jamming techniques intended to counter what were described as โ€œmodern terminal threat radarsโ€.

    I didn ‘t know . Source please ? If true , I stand corrected , thank you .

An undetectable and undefeatable EW technique sounds like fantasy. I know of no technique for which such claims are made.

Any new technique of jamming is sometimes undetectable and often undefeatable before it is understood by the opponent and until something is done like hardware or software change , or even building a new unit to counter it . During that time , the new EW technique is indeed … undefeatable .

For exemple , the vast majority of the actual GtoA , AtoA RF missiles use a monopulse radar as a seeker (Amraam , Mica , Meteor , etc) . Against the Cross Eye jamming technique , these missiles have a pk extremely low . To counter it with a good chance of success , you need an Aesa array .
I think the Japanese have an Aesa driven Air to Air missile , I read that somewhere …
To use the cross eye , one needs very advanced ECM arrayS and since you need at least 2 separated antennas , not a single pod on the actual market can do it . The Typhoon is said to use this technique and I bet that the Rafale too is using it .
Knowing rather well what Praetorian and Spectra are made off , I can say with pretty much assurance that I do not know of any similar systems fitted on any US aircraft . Someone prove me wrong and I will gently admit it .

    EE :

If theres one area where the F-teens are top-notch then that’d be in the EW/ECM department, they’re very far from being “outdated” as you claim them to be.

You are right . The word “outdated” is wrong . So , I retract what I said and from now on , I will use a different wording .
    Sorry .

Tell me Fedaykin , about the F-16 , what is the latest block the USA are using ?

Even the various sytems onboard the MLU , Blk 52 and Blk 60 can ‘t be compared to what is onboard the Eurocanards .
    Things like ALQ-131 , ALQ-135 (late F-15s) , ALQ-128 , ALR-56M RWR , etc were born in the 70s and their latest upgrades are from the years 96-98 and 2000 :
