Bolivia have better relations with USA than Venezuela with USA, so right now there is no blocade on mlitary sales, both countrys still cooperate on military issues. Look the pic below the UH-1 have both flags.

Yes and because these Hueys are operated by US pilots for the “war on drugs”.

    Keep on dreaming guys !!!!

I am quite sure that Politics (always a key factor in military purchases) will prevent France & Germany from large scale buying of the Russian stuff. 🙁

Limiting myself to Europe most of the former Eastern block pilots have been trained on the good old Yak-52 😎 . Some countries like Russia, Romania, Lithuania and Hungary still use them. Here some other types in use (besides Tucano and/or Pilatus birds):

    T-17 Denmark and Norway
    TB-30 France, Portugal
    T-35C Spain
    SF-260 Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Ireland
    PLZ-130 Poland
    UTVA-75 Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia

…* thinking back to 2001, and the utter surprise and total disbelief some Sukhoi representatives had when this smelly dude walks underneath a Flanker, and starts scratching off the paint of a c/n plate with a rouble coin… 😀

Did you get to have the preach by FSB Colonel Pavlov as well? I got busted underneath the Bear on the Tupolev platform… Don’t think there’s more fun to be had than at MAKS, i had a full-size grin on my face for two straight days.

Yeah right, just be proud of such stupid and foolish behavoir !!!!!!!!!! 😮 😮 😡

    new high res Russian airbases

Google has put out an imagery update-there’s some good stuff to be found in Russia now. For one, the Russian Knights are visible in Kubinka. One of the GORGON ABM silo fields is visible southwest of Moscow. And of course there are a bunch of new SAM sites visible as well!

Thanks SOC for the new update 😀 . I did not check GE for such a long time because nothing seemed to happen 🙁 . Here are the new Russian high res military airbase I could find after the new update. Just let me know if you all find something interesting. Enjoy.

    So whats your point?

but in the end, Kazakhstan is not Ukraine.

Ukraine has a much bigger population
Ukraine has a much much bigger air force, more MiG-29s than almost all the combat aircraft in Kazakhstan combined.

the budget Ukraine has (over all for their military) is larger, but the proportion/ratio is smaller, so the budget is more stretched.

Ukraine GDP = $356 billion, military expenditure 1.4% of GDP (2005)
KZ GDP = $139 billion, military expenditure 1.5% of GDP (2006)

so while Ukraine has about 2.6x a bigger military budget, Ukraine’s airforce, army, etc are much much more than 2.6x KZ’s armed forces. for example,
Ukraine probably has about 200 Fulcrums, and KZ has about 40. more than twice the number of Flankers, etc.. and their army is much larger, and their navy far far larger.

as for the MiG-31, there are more pics of it if you look in the small air forces section. They are based in Semey not too far from the Chinese border.

Nice calculations but what is your point  about the flighthours??

    Kazakh AF flighthours p/y??

According to the Kazakh president pilots are flying 100h a year compared to 20 h in other CIS-Air forces

The average pilot gets between 100-130 flight hours annually, depending on type of course. Its not great, but its good for an ex Soviet country.

I have a very hard time believing that the average flight hours is around 100 hrs per year. A country like Ukraine officially states their flighthours to be approx 70 hrs p/y. But if you talk to pilots and experts this number is just propaganda. In reality its much lower, probably between 20-50 hrs. 😮

I expect the data about Kazakh AF to be manipulated in a same way…………..
