    Tver, Russia

    Hi,
Has anyone got the GE co-ordinates for TVER or where else the AN-22s can be found, please.
    Be lucky
    David

    45° 49′ 49.58″ N 34° 45′ 06.76″ E

But there is not much to see since its low res. 🙁

I hope you are right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t buy that post there for a few reasons.

First, India complained, but every single SAM site and all of the other amusing tidbits I found there are still visible.

Second, the same goes for China. You can even see the first Jin SSBN being built at Huludao.

Third, yes, you CAN see Area 51 in high-resolution in Google Earth. Same goes for NSA HQ, and the CIA HQ. Those places aren’t a secret, it’s what goes on there that is. A photo of the buildings in Maryland and Virginia won’t tell you that, and the US has been monitoring satellite overflights for years at places like Area 51 and Tonopah so that classified aircraft aren’t photographed. Do you think they’d just forget the civillian satellites and leave the Aurora on the ramp at Area 51 for Google Earth to show off? 😀

And the slow pace? It’s been updated approximately once per month for a while now. The only thing is that they seem to have been focusing more on updating major cities and getting the entire US covered recently. Those of us with our eyes on places outside the USA just have to be patient.

On a related note, I have found that it is a good tactic to copy and save the image of anything amusing you see :diablo:

SOC, you do not know how much I hope you are right and GE will stay interesting to play with…….:D

    Google earth updates

For real, I’ve been monitoring Russia pretty closely for a while now because there are some things I’m waiting to be able to see in high res. Nice finds, but the coverage hasn’t been updated yet.

Perhaps SOC, if the statement in this post is true 🙁 you may be waiting for a long time ………..

    No changes yet………..

Thanks Golov for sharing the information. But I do not think Google Earth changed anything on Russia recently. These three locations are already high resolution for some time now. I know because I keep my placemarks seperated in high res and low res areas and thus it is easy for me to determine whats changed……. sorry. Keep up the good work. 😉

    4 to 8 aircraft is NOT enough………??

If it is just for air policing 4 to 8 aircraft will be more than enough. No expeditionary or offensive expectations are likely and the current system requires 4 to 8 NATO aircraft to be made available at all times. This is currently shared by (I think) all NATO signatories. Who is providing the cover at the moment?

If the figures in this thread http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=68999 are correct only 2-3 will be available for air policing at any given time………….so 4 to 8 may NOT be enough.:dev2:

    free visual/placemark

Debre Zeyt AB has been added! 10 FLANKERs and three FROGFOOTs are visible on the ramp, and there is an empty SA-2 and active SA-3 site within a few miles.

It would be nice to have some “visuals” with the text. I did this one for free………….;) So show us the 412 Flankers 😀

    Are you sure ???

Dummy co-pilot ejected. Note burns on the paint and no seat. As the text says is a filmation for a movie. Only some “wind” for the pilot, but nothing dangerously. The plane flies slow.

Are you sure it was a dummy pilot??? In the past Russian soldiers lives were not always valued……….

That’s news to me – so they were overhauled prior to 2004? Are they flying now?
The roudel image shows that they are not worn-out as I thought initially, but it’s a new low-vis camo scheme (replaceing the wel-known flashy green)

A source in the Ukraine informed me recently that due to the lack of money they do not fly. Even the regular engine test is a problem. 😮

You cannot blame the evil Americans:dev2: for that. Our U-2s and Rivet Joints are in the Middle East.

Yeah right and how do you know that??
