How about a treat of this beautiful machine.
Sorry, Jeroen, I TOTALLY disagree…… what an ugly helicopter 😮
Sorry to see so many sold, so they are pretty much unavoidable :diablo: 🙁 😮 😮 😡

MiG-25 stored at Rzhev, Russia
Some fresh pics of this great aircraft stored at Rzhev, Russia:http://alexgurov.strizhi.info/2007/01/30/471#more-471
Odd way to take-off with a helicopter
Have a look at the video : http://kolyan.net/index.php?go=News2&in=view&id=9794
Mari-North AB Turkmenistan
Again a former USSR airbase with lots (115+) of wfu MiG-23 Floggers and a few other types (MiG-21, MiG-25) as well.
Interesting country: at the base Mari-North the remains of 65+ Su-17 Fitters stored besides some 15 still operational Su-25 Frogfoots.
Because…….
Why?!
I my view the Cold War was a BIG WAISTE OF MONEY where great numbers of military equipment were produced. At both sides (West and East) people were lied to, to create an atmosphere of fear and hate so that they were willing to spend huge amounts of money (time and energy) on their military. “Money” which could also have been used for trying to solve other great world problems. Just have a look at the many disused and empty airbases (200+) in East and West, imagine what its cost to build and operate them and than try to convince me that money was spend wisely.

What a waist of money………
Kolomyya Ukraine
Not a very exiting find but it must be recently added in high res. since I did not notice it before. Unfortunately the based Su-24M and MR Fencers were transferred to Starokonstantinov in Spring 2004, so the base is completely empty now. 😡

[QUOTE=MiG-23MLD;1068003]
I do not think i have ever read at least me, a performance comparation between the F-4 and MiG-23 relating turn rates using graphs, niether i have ever written before about the handling capabilities at low speed and low altitude, the question Sferring is simply many are upset when they are shown real data for the MiG-23 and show it was not a total waste of money.
as a fighter it is widely forgotten the good qualities the MiG-23 had and if you dare to say it had some good qualities some people feel you are lying or bothering just to reapeted for a second or third time.the MiG-23M has better handling than the Tornado IDS, General Dynamics F-111 and Su-24 in what respects agility.
The MiG-23BN has a Max load factor of 7Gs quit close to other dedicated variable geometry strike aircraft such as the Tornado IDS, F-111 and Su-24.
The Tornado IDS has a Max load factor of 7.5Gs, the F-111F and the Su-24M are limited to a Max load factor of 6Gs, the earlier Su-24 Fencer A has a lod factor of 6.5Gs
when you see this factors and you see if the MiG-23 achieves a lock on one of these aircraft you can see the MiG-23 fighter variant was able to shot down several aircrat that have been claimed as victims shot down by MiG-23s such as the F-111 or Panavia Tornado.Another question is usually few comparasions have little use of accurate data from manuals and this creates myths, many consider that the F-4 is always a better fighter than the MiG-23, few see the good aspects of the aircraft in few words as a fighter the MiG-23 was a good third generation aircraft and a real match for the F-4.
I fully agree with Phantom II, Sferrin and Meat. Perhaps its wise for MiG-23MLD to donate his time and efforts in places (threads) where its usefull like perhaps here : http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=66787
P.S. By the way great post/reply (#27) Meat. Your example about the cars could not have been more clear (I hope) !!!!!:D

Its not that difficult just read the GE help section……………
Additional Su-34 pics
The end of the tail sting looks odd- it seems like the tail cone is too small for the sting itself, giving it a funny looking shape. I am not suggesting a production problem- just that I have not seen this before- Is there any explanation available?
Here some additional pics from another forum showing the 2 Su-34 side by side and thus displaying the difference in tailcone clearly: http://forum.airforce.ru/viewtopic.php?t=1791
Su-25SM pics
The Russian air force has taken delivery of 6 upgraded Su-25SM’s. 6 more will be upgraded next years and 8 more the year after (pitifully slow). That means that in 2006 the VVS has upgraded 6 Su-24’s and 6 Su-25’s.
Here are some pics with the theme: http://www.missiles.ru/foto_Su-25SM_Kubinka.htm
