Now that’s what I call close formation……:D
De-icing fluid though expensive is the most effective. If you are flying club aircraft, they should buy some and not be cheapskates.
Cold air=nature’s supercharger
They did mention it being rather pricey!
6 of my last 7 cars have been turbocharged (6 Saabs, 1 Impreza) so I know all about cool, moist, dense air=more boost, but why do you get more boost at the same time as less traction?
(Not so much of an issue in the Impreza:D )
Sorry I didn’t see this last night, but I didn’t see you at Conington today so you must have picked somewhere else if you managed to de-ice in time!
Amazing
Great News, my Grandfather was in North Africa, after Crete and Tobruk he joined the Paras and then got posted into ‘Raiding Forces’ which included the LRDG and the fledgling SAS. He was stuck behind enemy lines for quite a while after a raid on an airfield. He mainly jumped through a hole in the floor of a Wellington.
His Para Instructor (from my Grandfather’s Diary):
‘I always put Lloyd at the front of the stick as he leaves the aircraft as if entering a pub – quickly’
See, I did inherit some of my Grandfather’s skills…..:D
Couple of orbits from Auster G-ALFA again….:) 🙂
….immediately to the South of home here, Spilsby E.Lincs 4-14pm
….and away home to the EastClive.:)
Is she still up for sale, or has she moved onto new owners now?
Sorry, I’m NOT biast towards any airline and this Viscount only served with Air France and Air Inter, so those are the only choices, if we are going to record history accurately and return specific aircraft to the schemes they operated in.
Glad to see the livery Police waiting in the cyber-layby waiting to catch unwary forumites daring to dream on an open forum!:D
Perhaps you should give some training to the real traffic police;)
I don’t mind what colours she wears as long as she is preserved
No doubt we shall eventually look forward to F-BGNR being repainted back to her original Air France livery?
I am voting for Channel Airways…..I am sure that the Southend contingent would agree!
(Cue deluge of suggested schemes….:D )
Well done chaps!
Good luck, I will pop up and visit MAM this spring and see how things are progressing
There are lots of good photos of it on Google, obviously a popular machine!
What a gorgeous aeroplane.;) You probably realised that was not me, but I did recommend Connington to the pilot, so I’ll take the credit! 😀
Somehow I thought that you would not be flying it from the rear seat:D
The Anglo-Italian Fusion food on offer in the resturant is fantastic (Bacon & Egg Panini;) )
Nicely turned out Chippie
Seen yesterday arriving at Conington, and the fastest bit of parking I have seen in a long while…..:D
I did mention it to my wife, she got excited that I had suggested a Valentine’s day out, less so when I explained what it was.;)
I will certainly try and pop in, it’ll be good to meet up with some forumites!
I had it in my head that it was the 12th, so will check the calendar tonight and make sure that Senior Management hasn’t booked me elsewhere.
It was a Man and a woman that arrived in it, one of the fastest bits of parking I have seeen in a while:D
Took my daughter for lunch at Conington yesterday and this beauty arrived, Unfortunatley I didn’t get chance to talk to the crew, thery were deep in conversation with Gavin when I had to leave.
