    Hi Wessex Boy

    Hows the ppl progressing?

Yes the guys in the hangar manufactured the anti-glare exhausts for the Hurricane. The BBMF pilot said they reduced the noise significantly. I think he meant in the cockpit, because they didn’t do much for the noise in the hangar whilst they were being made!

I can imagine that things can get a bit noisy in there!
My PPL has stalled for the moment, my business took a little bit longer than anticipated to start giving me reasonable cash-flow, but I have just started a contract that will give me some cash in the bank at the end of December, so once I have covered school fees and mortgage, I am allowed to get airborne 😀 (some people have their priorities all wrong!)

And maybe later they can get a Grumman Goose and do proper flying boats trips. (Does that help keep it historic? :diablo: )

Love to fly in a Goose, but if they get an Antilles re-built one is that classed as a new one, or Historic?

    Good News!
I also saw that the BBMF Hurricane has a smart set of new Exhausts, did you chaps have a hand in that, Joe?

I know what you mean about the strange looks, I think we are a bunch that are different to everyone else, now is that a good thing? 😀

I think so! I hate being a sheep, even if I am half Welsh!

I vote that when you pass, we have a forum get-together with a few drinkies 😉

It is obviously an Indoor ‘Peanut’ Scale Free Flight model (hence the reg) and probably a standoff-scale representation of the Taifun

Well Articulated Deano, I hadn’t realised you were so near the final prize!
Hats off to you for doing the distance learning stuff at the same time as the ATPL, I am having enough trouble re-learning my PPL stuff whilst working, you get funny looks on the train head stuffed in a Trevor Thom book and going through your cockpit drills….. 😀

You got a link for that? I was going to do a search for Big Boys Toys but then thought better of it as I’m at work! 😮

They don’t appear to have a website, they are FCS Flight Consultancy Services based at Biggin Hill, and seem to deal in sports cars, etc as well.
They advertise in the Comic that competes with Today’s Pilot (same title without the word Today’s) 😀

Have you seen the ‘Big boy’s toys’ advert? they are selling off some ex-Yugoslav Air Force Sokos, jet trainers for £75-90k a STOL Utility aircraft for £34k and a Kraguj Ground Attack aircraft ( 6 available!) complete with Wing mounted Machine Guns, deflector sight, hard points and rocket rails! All for a mere £30k+Vat That would be a machine you could exact revenge with!

Posted before, but what the hell?

    Of course.

In fact the image was taken during a lengthy and tedious climb up to FL85 to clear some Alps. Nothing like full power available at that altitude, even at those revs.

But the views probably made up for it?

    Ha! Assume not.

Judging by the RPM displayed, may I assume that part of your routine is to photograph the timer as you start the take-off roll, and then photograph it again as the wheels touch down on landing? 😀 😉

Personally I stick a bit of Velcro on the back of a £4.99 kitchen timer and position it on the panel.

I assume it is one of those novelty egg-shaped ones that spin around and ring loudly when your tea is ready/Waypoint is reached? 😀

I have been looking at buying a new version of my old issue ‘Mickey-Mouse’ watch (CWC/MWC) it was sooo basic, but seemingly shouted the time at you and allowed for very simple time calculations as there was a clear minute scale around the outside. Of course we had to look under our Glove/flying suit to see it, so was a 2-handed job!
I find the plethora of so-called Aviator’s watches far too busy & Confused to be of any serious use in the cockpit.
