Don’t be deceived by the fact that it looks like a deck-chair. The Sky Ranger is an excellent performer. Try giving Paul Dewhurst a call at FlyLight at Sywell. I’m sure he’ll be delighted to arrange for you to have a go. Even with two-up, you’ll be amazed at the rate of climb after a PA-28!
No I was quite impressed by it, especially as it managed to keep it’s engine running, whilst the Tri-Pacer conked out on tick over and had to be re-started! (and blew my son’s crisps off the table)
Might I introduce you to another PA22 paint scheme…
Shouldn’t that be on the ‘Spotted’ thread in Historic 😀
sorry!
‘NG is certainly distinctive!
I believe the tail dragger in the line is a Vagabond – G-BDVB if my sad memory doesn’t fail me.Wessex Boy. The homebuilt in the picture with ‘HP taxying out is a Europa if that is of any interest.
Yep, The Europa is a resident at Conington, but I have never seen it move, or even with the covers off…
The Sky Ranger certainly looked less than substantial though… 😮 But it was extremely quiet and had an extremely short takeoff run!
And when the Lightning pilot’s were retired this is where they went taking some of thier finely honed flying skills with them 😮 😮 .

John.
Looks more like a 318 than a 737!
We used to do that in Cessna 150s on our flying scholarship! (when the CFI wasn’t looking)
BR,
Thanks, I have always struggled to shrink photos, but at least I now have a method that retains the quality.
My new Panasonic FZ5 seems quite good, especially as it was bought of eBay with the proceeds of selling a few bundles of baby clothes and car seats, so was effectively free!
There are not many US light aircraft I find interesting, but the Tri-Pacer, along with the Colt and Caribean is one range, Taylorcraft obviously for their Auster connection, but my fave has to be the Cessna Airmaster.
Among the modern(ish) stuff Mooneys have always intrigued me.
F.3 XP753 (as in my avatar) flown by the late Flt.Lt Mark Thompson, who sadly perished in this a/c after crashing into the sea off Scarborough in Aug ’83.
Sorry Firebird, didn’t realise.
Nice to see it in happier times, shame the video cuts out so early.
BR, Thanks have switched from HP software to MS Picture Editor, hopefully these are better!
OK, switched from HP software to MS Picture Editor, trying again 🙂
Seem to recall that Skyranger is Flylight’s from Sywell.
Slight quality problem on the photos – did you downmix them to 256 colours or something?
I dropped them from 5M pixels to lo-res to allow upload, I will have a look at them, because the originals look fine
This came up as a related Vid:

Vulcan at Mildenhall ’83, with a little Lightning for dessert….
Conington 4th, First try with FZ5
Was left unsupervised today so took my 3 year old son to Conington flying club for lunch and the first aviation trial with my new FZ5.
First 2 were taken by my 3 year Old!
the next 2 on Optical zoom, third on Digital zoom (lots of noise). The last one I really like, the 3 layers of aircraft in it seem quite pleasing!
All in all, it seemed to cope quite well, and I was able to use the screen for the static shots in the very bright sunlight.
Any feedback on composition/Technique welcomed!
My Father has some good pictures of G-AMTA sitting on it’s roof after an aborted takeoff at Ipswich in the ’60s.
Apparently it strayed off the runway and mud built up in the spats and spat it over forwards (sorry!) he has a photo of the airport manager digging a hole for the prop/spinner to go into as they right it again.
I am sure he has posted them on here before, I will have a look for them.
He took them to the recent Ipswich International Airport reunion and met a couple of his old Flying Instructors.
Here is the Thread:

Ahh yes, you can tell by the grasp of the Wrench,
Or should that be the gasp of the We…..? 😀
Not sure of the health and safety aspects of performing maintenance without overalls…for the other maintenance guys near by, I mean 😀
I assume they are qualified? 😉
Recieved it!
Smaller than my friends Fuji S5500 and lighter, but a little plasticky in feel.
shutter response is almost instantaneous outside, and not to bad in low light.
I will have a play and let you know how I get on, but on first impressions, a cracking camera for the money 😀
