Good Luck BR!
From what I have seen, you are a brave man! 😀
May I ask what kind of helicopter……?
I wonder what it was doing at Conington then? There was also a 2 tone green and Gold one there that took off just before it, seems strange to have 2 visiting on the same day
poor,. punct’uation!
Just to add to the discussion, I have a Casio EX S500 point and shoot and a Canon EOS300 35mm. (with 28-90+75-300)
Having just been to a wedding with the Casio and having totally disappointing results, I have decided to buy an intermediate camera, as a friend with a Fuji Finepix achieved fantastic results.
My question is what to buy? I am looking to buy 2nd hand from eBay for £70-100.
My choices come down to:
Canon Powershot S2
Canon Powershot S3 (is this that much better than an S2?)
Olympus SP500
Fuji Finepix S5500/5700/602 or similar
Praktica 4008
Panasonic Lumix FZ20
Any thoughts/experiences please!! or any other choices.
I have owned Praktica and Olympus SLRs before and get on well with the EOS, and don’t want to lose a decent film camera yet
Thanks BR, Nice, informative Site, nice aircraft as well.
Finally got around to uploading my photos and found this one from the day, the same one as the door incident, and I have just noticed his Registration….
The old Doncaster airport used to allow powered & meat bombing, there was a strict props stopped policy whilst meat throwing was in progress, which didn’t always go down well with visitors
Minus points: Gas struts on gull wings can fail (with hilarious consequences).
Overall far nicer than a standard PA28 or C172. A little pocket rocket by comparison.
Thanks BR, speaking of the doors, one of the chaps had obviously taken a new ‘Lady Friend’ for a flight, and after she had helped him push it on the grass, he went back to his side, picked up his flight bag, and rather cooly attempted to slam the door shut as he jumped from the wing, all in one movement…..unfortunately his cool image was spoiled as he slipped on the door, stumbled off the wing and dropped his bag…the Gas strut seemed to be in rude health as the door sprung back immediately…..more practice methinks 😀
I heard a rumour that Sywell was UB’s last UK show, what’s happening to them, and will they be back?
Fantastic Video, takes me back to my passing out Parade at Swinderby (May ’88) the last one with a Lightning Flypast (my Dad stood with his back to the parade watching them holding out to the south!)
One thing I will say is that having read ‘Thunder & Lightnings’ as a yoof, I was prepared to appreciate their last days, hence my decision to go to Binbrook for a second ATC summer camp, and lucked out being there for the week before the last of the lightning show. 😀
I always find it amusing when an aircraft is listed to see what else is being sold by the same bloke. In this case various blinds and window frames…!
You can also look at what else the Bidders have bought & Sold recently 😉
If it is valid, there are plenty of PPL confusers floating around on eBay….
I see it is one of the later marks, fitted with a wing fence… 😀
(Bottom left Photo)
I see that someone called Bruce is bidding on it……
Sorry!!!
The RAF tends to close these bases much faster than the USAF, Alconbury and Molesworth officially closed years ago, but there are still hundreds of US Air Force Personnel living around Huntingdon
Yes, it is a repeat from BBC 1 when Coltishall closed
Aaaah memories of 2 Cadet camps, ’83 and ’87, what a difference between them though:, ’83 was vibrant and very noisy, ’87 was ghostly, barely 1 or 2 flights a day from each squadron, and if I recall correctly, LTF had packed up by then? 🙁
