So that’s what I heard!
I was there on a driving day yesterday (awful weather) and saw the anti-collision beacon running on the Victor so assumed it was that running an engine…
Well done chaps
I don’t suppose there are that many NIMBYS complaining…
Well done both! I can’t believe that I am putting myself through it all for a second time, it was bad enough at 17!
I just don’t like the cut of his Jib, there is a certain mis-placed smugness that would not be present if this was real
To quote Keith Hartley;
That quote really needs a Brendan O’Brien line to finish….merge threads?
Excellent news WB, with licence issues alledgedly 45% down on two years ago GA needs all the new pilots it can get.
I am intrigued though, was this your first flight in 17 years, if so why did the instructor not supervise the pre-flights, especially if it was a type new to you?
Thanks DBW, I was a little surprised that I wasn’t supervised closely, although I think she was watching from the Clubhouse. I did go back with a list of things I couldn’t find (Pitot head, fire extinguisher, strainer & 3rd strainer point) and she took me around them, she also double checked my fastening of the cowling, a common mistake on the Warrior, but they were OK. Otherwise I just followed the checklist religiously
😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Don’t forget to indicate before you turn right too 😀 😀 😀
Yup we’ve all done that sort of thing.

Don’t you find it difficult to stick your hand out of the DV panel? 😀
And it’s even more embarrassing to forget that the flap lever isn’t the handrake/parking brake, like what I did last week……… fortunately I was still on the ground, but my God did I feel a prat! Why I did it, I don’t know, as I had never done that before and hopefully will never do so again.
It’s alright, I did try to steer whilst taxying with the Yoke at first….I was lucky because I had accidentally put the alierons into wind, so my instructor commented on my good practice…. 😉
Much less prone to failure, particularly asymmetric. 🙂

Yes, I have been on a touch & go with the flaps on a C150 jammed at 35 degrees and a rapidly shortening runway!
Conversely, in the Warrior, it is apparently very easy to accidentally take off full flap in one go rather than stages, with a corresponding sudden loss of lift….
That seems to be quite a slope there!
(or has the Photographer got one leg shorter than the other? 😀 )
Great Photos
Thanks Chaps, I really enjoyed it, even though the conditions weren’t ideal (280/21 gusting 30) the Warrior coped with it easily.
It is certainly a heavier aircraft to fly than the 152/172 (from memory), it felt rock-solid. On the plus side Rudder trim seems an absolute Luxury (no more dead right foot on xcountries..), but I was surprised that the flaps were manual, with a giant lever, compared to the Cessna’s electrical flappy switch thing!
I am sure that once I relax a bit at the controls it will feel smoother/lighter, I was a little tense yesterday!
In answer to the original question….ebay!
Except for HP57 Throttle Boxes which are all carefully boxed up and put in a large Raiders of the Lost Ark warehouse so Cees can’t get them :p
🙂

I assume retrieval involves a floppy brown hat and a whip?
i have an aerial thingy
Is that through the use of drugs? 😉
Nice Gooney Bird, by the way
Something from the Miles stable?
Great to see, massive job!
Must organise a visit to Brooklands some time, to see the ex-Channel Airways Viking as well.
I could incite a riot by asking if it will fly….but I won’t! 😀
