Objection posted, both from a Pilot’s point of view and public Safety (over-crowding during displays?)
As a regular driver of that route, I have suggested that they re-position the service Area south, with a junction where the M11 can be exited, as hearing that there is a hold up near Stansted as you sail past the Duxford Junction can mean a slightly lengthened journey…..
I see KC135s and Hercs from Mildenhall regularly (herc repeatedly last night)
Just returned from spending 2 weeks at my wife’s aunt just outside Sacremento CA, and saw C141 Starlifters (Travis) and U2 (Beale) amongst others from her garden! (No pics unfortunately)
My Wife’s uncle is an ex F111 and A10 Airframe Fitter, and his son-in-law is an ex F111 and U2 Airframe fitter, and took me onto Beale for a night’s bowling, but the place is so vast that we drove for 15 mins (some at 50mph!)and still didn’t see the flightline!
Lets put it this way, when they were selling off the MQs they were queuing up for days beforehand. And with the region expected to meet the governments new homes targets a brownfield site like Wyton could be very attractive. Mind you, when it comes time to sell off Brampton I wonder if the likes of BPOM and the area around it will be preserved or just knocked down…
And then there is always Alconbury – ripe for developing into a nice new town….:p
One of my friends lives opposite the main gate/F4 in Brampton, I wonder how he feels about the prospective change of use…
… under London Bridge of all places! 😀
Glad to see that someone else remembers odd C**p like I do… 😉
Arizona is prettty much all “beach”, you’l wait a bloody age for the tide to come in tho…
didn’t I see on Tomorrows World many moons ago that they built a wave machine in a lake to enable surfing in Arizona? 😉
The planning appeal process in this country is a farce.

If you are a croquet-playing, Dome-owning Texan, I think you would find it is fine…
As for Bentwaters, I think the occasional warthog would have made a nice backdrop to the Snape Maltings soundscape….
I have heard of one flying from Cyprus that was up for 1 hr 15, but only because he shut down one engine after t/o, the ground crew assumed he had ditched….
And I thought you just poured fuel in the back and put a match to it…..Thanks for the info, I feel enriched 😀 😉
I reckon Pete Stanley, or whoever is curator of the RAF Pathfinder Museum nowadays, might suggest that there’s actually a very significant historic aircraft connection…
Speaking to an old boy at the weekend who remembers the Lancs and Mossies at Wyton, Warboys and Upwood….
Saw a TV crew in a Layby filming as I came home tonight, it looks like Wyton will be reduced but not closed.
If it does close what will happen to Marshalls/UAS?
Me Too! 😀
Why do they keep re-making, surely there must be other stories worthy of telling on film?
Personally I would like to see one made about the Pathfinders, seeing as I live surrounded by their old bases
So that is our entire Air force that is still based in the UK then…..Any more ‘World Police’ Duties and our Island’s defence will be just the Red Arrows and the BBMF! 😉
My initial reaction is whether to buy them and then sell a Fully managed Photo-Reconnaisance Service back to the RAF when they realise that they still need the capability in a few weeks time…. 😉
Wow! 😮 😎
Must talk to the Wife about re-decorating our house in Cream Leather and unfeasibly shiny wood, it is just sooo tasteful :diablo:
