I like the diversity of buildings and displays at Duxford, it gives an example of how airfield architecture has developed from the wooden hangers of WWI through to the uber-modern design of the AAM.

I have 2 small kids, and I like to be able to show them the Hangers were my Grandfather was a Propulsions tech on 19 sqn in the late Thirties, and also be able to grasp the scale of the B52 when they are standing under a wing.
And who’d of thought that so soon after the years of secrecy around the SR71, your kids would be able to go right up to one and feel the ‘funny paint’

L1049 Constellation Super G has to be the best looking Airliner ever, a real credit to Kelly Johnson (also of Electra, P38, U2 and Blackbird fame..)

I remember seeing C46s in Miami and Fort Lauderdale Airports in 1980, used on the runs to South America, some were drug impoundees. There were also a nice collection of DC3s, Beech 18s, Lockheed Electras and DC6/7s

I suppose you have to also count the Dragon Rapide and Dove as the most gentlemanly way of getting about…..

Good point! I wonder whether it corners in one direction better than the other, with all of the gyroscopic forces acting like that?

I also wonder what noise it makes, as we are used to hearing them with a big fan on the front? :confused:
