    Hi All

RAF Lakenheath is home to the 48th Fighter Wing flying the F-15 E Strike Eagle

    Scott C

And has a very good public viewing area at the end of the runway. from the A11, drive past the main gate, continue around the perimeter, and then it is signposted off to the left. It is nice and close to the action and fairly active during the week.

You just wouldn’t want to go over a speed hump with that would you? That bottom cylinder looks a mite exposed…. 😮

I used to know a Canberra Pilot who claims to have been the first to fly a PR9 into Cyprus, the groundcrew thought he was taking the P**s when he asked them to open the Nose to let the AEOp out! (I stand to be corrected on the role in the Nose..) 😀

The Koreans gave the Aviodrome 2 engines to replace engine nr. 3 and 1 for reserve. The Koreans get 2 old engines back to mount on their bird and also technical advice about maintaining the Connie for static display.

I suppose that is a decent gesture, no point in having airworthy engines sat there whilst they are needed elsewhere, good on them!

I still think it is a crying shame that after all of the effort to get the MATS Connie Airworthy it is now languishing in a museum…. 🙁

Kelly Johnson’s best design in IMHO

I normally have a couple of CBA stored in Sky+ but I haven’t seen the Gannet one myself yet, I will keep a lookout for it.

I found the VC10 one very evocative as they are still in frontline RAF service, and obviously extremely well-loved by the Ground and Aircrews

Didn’t George Bush Senior Fly in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre in WWII? I have a feeling he had to ditch at one point?

Chippy went to Halton Tues afternoon, stayed overnight, so that the boss could fly with the AOC in the chippy the following day.

So was it transitting back on Friday? A Chippie did a run down Warboys high street (the run the Lanc normally takes for the Pathfinders flypast) and then headed North.

That looks like a nice book, would go great with my ‘Bailey’s Bird Annual’….
I have flown on a couple of Mallards, both from water and land, including the one in the ‘Miami Vice’ opening credits! 😀

Far East !!! Is that like to the right of Lowestoft ?

Just to the right of Lowestoft is Southwold, famous for 2 things:
1, Lighthouse turning point when on practice Cross-countries from Norwich (Diss-Southwold triangle)
2, The Centre of Moggy’s Universe: The Adnams Brewery!

Make mine a Broadside (not only the name of the Beer, but the effect it has on your figure)

What colour T shirts are they? Red and yellow don’t really suit my complexion…

Station Commander when I was there as well. Every one I know up there still refers to it as Finningley.

    Brian

I knew the name was familiar but couldn’t think from where. I was stationed there in ’88 for AAITC and Loadie Groundschool.
I took part in a 45 min Presentation to him at the end of our AAITC course on the history & Development of the Meteor, his pet subject, so we had to get our facts right….. 😮
