I know the chap that took it into Halton originally. Indeed it was looking a bit sad back then.

Suspect it will take loads of wonga and even more TLC to get it back to what it should be (and even there some folk scratch their heads deciding what it was in the first place).

I believe there is a skunkworks at the eastern end of Duxford that could probably sort it. Just find a rich uncle first.

sounds like it is in Dire Straits? 😀

Didn’t Julian get a bit annoyed when he was flying an Agusta 109 (I think) and the regular pilot insinuated that he wasn’t that experienced, and Julian replied, ‘I am an experienced Helicopter Pilot, I am ex-military’ or something to that effect!

I remember the Greenham Common displays of the early ’70s with C97s, constellation, 25 Hercs, 40 Hunters, lots of Starfighters, and of course the B52!

I remember an Eagle scraping it’s tail on the runway as well.

Yes, that’s them, the content can be quite good sometimes, once you get past the presentation, and he does seem to be a pretty natural flyer.
Reminds me of BlackAdder’s Captain Flash-ard woof!

Isn’t that the same series that is shown on Disco wings now, think the girl was Celia something, she flew the L39 with Mark, and the chap was the long flowing hair/over-enthusiastic stereotypical aviator type (shades and Silk Scarf) Brendan something (also instructor for early phase of Spitfire ace on the Tiger Moth)

see, I have all of the facts, coherently presented! 😀

The site has grown since I last looked at it, but is still a very balanced view of what happened, and is very fair to all involved.

    Memphis Belle the first perchance?!

    Of Course!
I have only seen it once, but it was great to see our old Air Cadet hut being used in anger as the dispersal hut, and the bomb dump which is now ‘Mini Belfast’ for urban warfare training

    Correct!
They filmed the training scenes at Bassingbourn, and built a very impressive looking Assault Course, that in reality was easier to do than the existing Infantry training ones…
They also turned part of the airfield into Vietnam with some Palm trees in skips, grass huts and 2 x mock up Wessex…

The other film was older, Black and White and more of a Documentary…

Was G-AMMS the one that the comedian Jimmy Edwards used to own? I seem to rememeber seeing it at Squires Gate (Blackpool) in the late 50s. And G-ALFA is for sale on http://www.thehangar.co.uk

There is also a Mk5D (AOP?) for £10.5k

And I would assume that Morris-Driver probably drives an old British car that is noisier and more polluting than modern vehicles….

I have always viewed Cambridge society as a bit odd.

I used to fly from Marshalls, first at 5AEF and then at Marshalls Flying club, I couldn’t afford a car, and they were the only flying club near me with a Bus route nearby!

Broken Cloud (2/8), light winds, scattered showers and funny smells

A complete guess following last nights BBC weather report saying that the front moving across the UK today is moth-eaten (technical term) and would be followed by a few days of warm, dry weather.

Unfortunately I can’t see any swallows to give you a pressure reading (not even coconut-laden ones)
