I took my kids on the one at Duxford last year, but the staff didn’t seem keen to let me try out the game…..
Last flew on one in ’97 when EAC was leasing G-AVMP to Ryanair (Luton-Dublin) It was such a different experience to a 737 et al, it was small and agile, and felt so low to the ground when boarding.
I also used to play on one aged 4 when my Grandfather was disposing of Channel Airway’s assets in the early ’70s, the game was to see if you could start the forward stairs going down, run to the back, start the rear stairs, get back to the front before those stairs had completed, then to the back before they had finished, then start again for the opposite cycle….
Touche!
That’s the problem with such a dramatic weight-loss!
The ladies dig the mini-chopper 😉
I don’t know what you are implying ….. :p
You must have had 1 too many Pimms as you didn’t crash it!
Don’t bother about a photo of me watching your antics as I also probably had 1 too many Pimms!
ha-ha! Although saying that I didn’t have a drink last night and crashed it very badly…..
It’s not the Pimms you should worry about, it’s the shirt!
😀 😀 Enjoying Life 😉 Thumbs Up 😉 😀 😀 😀 Anna
I may well have (ahem) put on 1 or 2 pounds in the 17 years since leaving Her Majesty’s Forces….mainly muscle bulk obviously 😉
I still can’t believe that I was told that I needed to fatten up as the optimum Fat:Lean meat ratio for aircrew is 15 and I was 10.2 at the time, I must be approaching 14ish now….
Couple of pics of me..then and now!
First is when I was young (19) and had no sense 😀
Second is at Gooney Bird’s Summer Soiree, flying my chopper in the marquee after 1 too many Pimms…
It was a well-known warbird operator that I was talking to at this party that suggested I take a look at this forum….
Gooney Bird shall I post a pic of you at the party watching my antics?
Porsche: There are only two things wrong with a Porsche:
1) They are ugly (apologies if you own one)
2) From 1986 they became the icon of the nouveau riche which, in itself, is OK, but they were being bought by idiots for the status and not for their history or quality engineering. The car’s enigma plummeted in my view. This was all post 1981 when the enigma was still intact.Wessex boy: You obviously know the area. Not many people will admit to that.
I am a Porsche fan, but like you abhor people that buy them to be seen in, rather than drive them ( a few of those at work…)
I worked for JM in Royston ’89-’91 I sometimes drew the short straw and had to go up to the Brimsdown plant, everything turned green there, even the people…. 😮
So lets look at the facts…you are trying to find a 50 year old, Porsche driving balsa basha… 😉
I’ll put it on the calendar, I hadn’t realised how close Sywell was to me!
Obviously the fumes from the Johnson Matthey refinery were affecting your judgement……
Are you sure it wasn’t the Eau de Balsa he was wearing? 😀
A Couple of pictures of an RAF Sea King training with the Aldeburgh Lifeboat (Suffolk), they do a demo every Carnival day (3rd Monday in August) they launch both Lifeboats and winch the Mayor down onto both at speed.
The Lifeboat then runs as fast as it can into the beach to be recovered….. 😮
Thanks Chaps.
Happy Birthday Wessex..!
Many Happy returns to you, sir!
Let me know when fella – if at a weekend maybe able to give you a backlot tour of our restorations…

Thanks! I will be checking the dreary and picking a date soon, so will let you know!
Saw those in similar conditions a couple of years back from the taxi on the way past, unfortunately I didn’t have the spare time to stop and investigate closer, can you get inside the Connie?
On a similar vein, I was in Monchen Gladbach a couple of years ago and they were advertising Ju52 flights, do they still do them?
I am assuming it was Mark not Ray that flew the L39 in the James Bond film? (can’t recall the name, Brosnan and some pretty girls were in it…)
