Is it just me or did the Chipmunk under restoration have a very small rear cockpit?

It is much smaller than I Remember from my cadet years…… 😉

Gooney Bird and I wondered if that was you, Ollie, in the hat complaining of needing a wide-angle lens….

Hand-held microphones? Just one of the many anachronisms and ergonomic disasters you find in those clapped out things which flying schools charge a fortune for and people still seem happy to pay through their nose to become owners of. They fit right in with the missing inertia-reel safety belts and multi-lever power controls…

I suppose it begs the question; Why do people and flying clubs still buy overpriced, out of date spam cans? What are their real alternatives?

    Bruce,
Just wanted to say a big thanks for your hospitality today, I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit there for 30 years, as did my parents and son!
We had a long chat with the chap working on the prototype mossie about teh Horsa fuselage that’s there. (My Grandad was thankful he parachuted rather than had to go in a Horsa!)

Thanks for openning the Dove & Comet, apparantly Channel Airways ran their Dove with 11 seats rather than the 5 you have configured, how they fitted them in I don’t know!

    Cheers!

    Hope things go well.
When my daughter was in Hinchinbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon a Meningitus case came in, they double checked every part of the treatment with Addenbrookes, it is very highly rated.

The intake ahead of me was the last of compulsory Parachute Training for Loadmasters, they only then did it for despatchers on Herks, and I was streamed onto choppers, which was a relief!
I did fall out of a Wessex once, but had my monkey harness on, so didn’t fall far 😉

I was one of those odd types that when solo preferred to use the mike than a headset on the 150/172s that I was flying (86-89). I felt a bit freer and more in touch with the a/c, and more comfortable!

Having done a stint on egg beaters since, and always being accused of being ‘mutt & Jeff’, I would guess that I will need a headset with the volume right up when I re-start later this year 😀

It’s a well-known fact that us blokes buy things for people (loved ones, children), when really we want to have a go ourselves! 😉

Such as when my other half and I went microlighting….! :diablo:

It was all bought for my kids by my parents…so for once I am not the one being accused of brainwashing them…. 😉

    Playing with it? :diablo:

I don’t know what you mean?
It is annoying when the kids try and take off without completing their pre-flights though…….

If the burgers are as good as the one’s used to be at Mildenhall, I will buy it, whatever the cost.

A Man after my own heart, no other air show could match the food quality of Mildenhall….

Especially when my younger Brother, aged about 5, suckered the ‘put a yank in the tank’ guy to let him stand 2 foot from the target… he put the guy in 5 times on the trot….he won an item of food for each dunking! 😀

Just an update, my ex has just roared up to Notty and picked him up, she’s quite worried about his condition but is stuck in a jam on the A14 so I’ve arranged an emergency appointment at our health centre.
Moral of the story, whatever the circumstances, always stay pals with your ex when kids are involved, otherwise situations like this would be impossible to deal with, I shall try and get the doctor to reccomend a viewing of a Mosquito as essential treatment.

Worrying Times, when will they fix the A14?

A good dose of Balsa Dust and Polyeurethane Thinners will sort him out

I have a Licence, just a slight 16 year gap in currency which I hope to remedy during this year. 😉

So in pure technical terms, If I were to fly in with an instructor, I would officially be on my own licence…….but in the spirit of what you are asking, noooo 🙁
