Having had a JP4 impounded at Felixstowe en route to Tas I would say get an export licence. When i had problems about 12 years ago they were issued by the DTI. They take bloody ages and you will never speak to the same person twice, if you can understand them, as they all seem to come from outer space!!
Your best bet is to get a shipping agent to deal with the whole thing it may cost a few quid but it will save you hours and hours of telephone calls.
I eventually sent the JP4 followed by a Hunter T8 and 3 Chippys at least one of which Rob Edginton ferried to the mainland via Flinders? island.

    Happy landings

If you could advise re next years event it may be a goer for the big bird. In view of only just having completed the retrieve from Newark this is too short notice. I am not flying!!!!!
    Happy landings.

    Redundant ground socket.

Rich, I will see you over the weekend, the socket you require was removed from most Chippys on the civil reg. some years ago on a CAA mod. There should be a few about as they were made redundant by what was basically a useless Mod.
    Happy landings Phil

Well she has shaped up nicely, I reckon that My efforts with the German bird will be totally eclipsed. See you at the weekend!!!

    Offence

Facts are facts, if Fry alters the facts of the raid in a film I am quite sure that in 50 or 100 years it will be re-dubbed by a future generation who will see political correctness for what it is. Pathetic attempts by some people to paper over crevasses in society and reality.
The word offends beyond doubt and would not be used by any right thinking person now. I can recall as a child in the early fifties the use of words in day today conversation that would horrify now, the F word was never heard however
“******” this or that was common place!!!
This film will be interesting, i look forward to seeing all Frys usual crew I just hope they put in a decent performance for once.
The bottom line is, racism is wrong, political correctness will not cure it. (apologies for bottom and ******, Steven)

    Valiant section

Having just picked up on this thread i noticed mention of sheds and nose sections. Some 20 0dd years ago i kept a Pub in Chaddesley Corbet,Worcs.
Not far away on the road from Kiddy to Bromsgrove was a pig farm quite near the old Hartlbury MU. Said farmers field was full of what appeared to be Valiant lower radome/nose sections being used as Mk1 pigs homes!!!
Having left the area years ago, i am not sure if they are still there or not. There were at least a couple of dozen.

What are pedestrians doing walking through the prop arc anyway????
Having pulled a few props through over the years having checked the mags are off and throttle closed i have always been aware that the engine could catch anyway! NEVER walk within striking distance of the prop walk round it by a good margin.
    Happy landings.

Nice to see a shot of WK574 before it went into Navy colours. This was the first Chippy i bought off the ministry, it had a hook and the intention was to use at Hus bos as a tug. However WP809 came along with a much lower FI so we pinched the hook off 574 put it on 809 and i sold 574 to Rob Edginton in Tasmania before we had rigged it!! Happy days, nothing left to buy now.
574 and 809 were both Navy at the end.

Given reg G-BVPC for 574 not taken up

    Supermunks

I dont know how many in total, but we had 4 at Hus bos as glider tugs, in fact i believe all dhc1-180 supermunks came about due to one man from the RAFGSA who i think was Dick Stratton who decided the Chippy needed a bigger engine. Years ago Bill Fisher published a comprehensive history on the Chipmunk i am sure all the details would be there.
I dont think any have been converted in the last 10 or more years. The last one converted at Hus Bos was G-BBSS. The other 3 were G-BDCC, now written off, G-BCOY (Red & white) G-BBNA ( Yellow & White) known as Bananas!!!!! SS is white overall. There are 2 Chippys at H-B, my old a/c WP809 (G-BVTX) still in Royal Navy colours and Bob Bowles a/c which i am ashamed to say i cant remember the reg at 1.45AM!!!!!
I believe the GSA are selling their a/c i think they had/have about 6 or so.

Good luck in your quest, having only been involved/viewing this forum/site for a short while, relatively, I am struck by the i know more than you set and their smug postings!! If they really knew that blue was up they would be in the White Swan having a beer with proper pilots.
Happy landings matey all the best with your quest.

    Aircraft crossing Railways

I may be way off the track here, but i seem to remember seeing years ago in Aircraft Illustrated pictures of a Shack crossing a rail line on the runway at a base in Ireland, maybe there?
